The School of Dentistry provides an internationally recognised teaching experience to students. There is a high level of support required to deliver the diverse teaching activities provided by University and NHS staff.
We are recruiting a Modern Apprentice within our School Office to support colleagues to deliver the wide- ranging administrative activities required of a busy school, providing help with general clerical tasks, including basic financial procedures. This will also involve some support for Taught Postgraduate and Research students.
The postholder should be a capable and responsible individual with a positive attitude and will act as first point of contact for all visitors to the School, providing a professional welcome offering advice and guidance as required, as well as dealing with enquiries from students, staff, visitors, and others.
You will be joining an experienced professional services team who provide invaluable support to undergraduate and postgraduate students. This post will play a key role in ensuring that teaching activities run smoothly and efficiently by ensuring the correct resources are available to staff. The post requires organisation and planning skills as well as a sensitive approach to customer service.
A Modern Apprenticeship is a work-based training programme that leads to an industry approved qualification. Training is mostly on-the-job, which means Modern Apprentices learn the right mix of skills, knowledge and abilities. It is hoped that the successful candidate would achieve SVQ Business and Administration Level 2 within the two-year period.
Applicants must be aged between 16 and 24 and therefore you must not have attained the age of 25 before the start date as a Modern Apprentice, this is due to funding available to support this post. The successful applicant will work a 36.25-hour week (0830-1645 hrs, Mon- Fri) and be paid the National Minimum Wage for their age.
