The Gender Identity Clinic (GIC) is the longest established clinic of its kind in the world (1966), and consists of a large multidisciplinary team, with whom the post holder will work. It accepts self-referrals, as well as referrals from primary or secondary care of adults who are gender diverse or dysphoric. Care includes specialist assessment and, where necessary, diagnosis of gender incongruence, and may also include psychological therapies, speech & language therapy, endocrinology, referral for hair removal, referral for surgical procedures and aftercare.
We are looking for someone who wants to develop their existing administration skills in a healthcare environment and support the service administrators in this busy service. With strong IT skills, the post holder should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills as they will be dealing with professionals, external agencies and, at times, challenging and distressed patients that may contact/ attend the service.
We are looking for an enthusiastic administrative assistant to take on this role who is committed to supporting the team to deliver a professional, first class service to our patients. The successful applicant will be able to work in a very busy department dealing with clinicians and patients.
• To ensure all agreed office processes are actioned in a timely way.
• To confidently use Microsoft Office and Care Notes (patient management system).
• To deal professionally with face to face and telephone enquiries from referrers, staff groups, patients, relatives and carers to attend team Away Days as required.
• Providing relevant and effective clinical services for all patients and their families, ensuring that those who need our services can access them easily.
• To support the Service Administrator with entering referrals on to Care
• To provide administrative support including use of template letters and forms as required.
