A well-established Mechanical and Electrical Engineering practice based in Liverpool, with over 30 years of experience, is seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team. Known for delivering innovative M&E designs across a range of projects, from bespoke schemes to multi-million-pound developments, the firm has a strong reputation for quality in both the public and private sectors. This is a full time, permanent role offering up to £40K per annum.

Key Responsibilities:

• Electrical Design: Prepare small power and data layouts, fire alarm system designs, and lighting designs including calculations and light fitting selections.
• Produce lighting schedules and containment drawings.
• Develop strategies for security systems (CCTV, Intruder Alarm, Staff Attack), access control, nurse call, and assisted living warden call systems.
• Draw up main electrical distribution schematics and specialist schematics (lighting, data, security, etc.).
• Calculate cable sizing using appropriate software and produce distribution board schedules.
• Prepare general arrangement (GA) layouts of services and photovoltaic panel designs.
• Write detailed electrical specifications.

Cad / Revit Proficiency:

• Understand company standards and layouts.
• Utilize AutoCAD and Revit drawing protocols to produce basic layout drawings from sketches.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in an M&E consulting environment.
• HNC or degree qualified (recent graduates will also be considered).
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Familiar with using Amtech software to support electrical design.
• Strong team player with a commitment to high-quality work and career progression.
• Comfortable attending client meetings and working to deadlines.

The role of Senior Lecturer involves being an integral part of the team ensuring provision is to a high-standard and compliant with DfE and Office for Students (OfS) requirements. You will lead on the planning, design and development of modules and curriculum (including adaptions resulting from DfE mandated frameworks) to deliver a range of high-quality teaching materials and associated student assessment activities. As a subject specialist in Art and Design, you will also have programme management and curriculum leadership responsibilities, including support to partnership schools and supervision of practice-based learning for students.

You will hold a relevant undergraduate degree with QTS, or PGCE (QTS) with a track record of successful Art and Design teaching in a Secondary school and preferably a second subject specialism, along with experience at teaching undergraduate level and above - or delivering equivalent relevant professional training and development. You will also hold a PhD or other equivalent qualification, or appropriate level of experience, suitable to the discipline. We are seeking an individual with excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrable ability to operate effectively in a demanding environment, which has both academic and professional practice requirements and compliance demands, including internal and external auditing and inspection.

Your new role
Your new role as a Mechanical Design Engineer will be a fully encompassing role. The main involvement in the role will be in Machinery Design & Development, but also a strong involvement with: Trials and Testing, Bill of Materials, Assembly, Procurement, Technical Documentation, Research & Development and Health and Safety, making it an interesting role to get stuck into. Working within that large team of Engineers encourages both innovation and collaboration as a business.
As part of your role, you will consistently be offered Training & Development for your future. This can include paid courses and memberships, as well as on-the-job training, moving across different departments in business. This can be across production, quality, testing, assembly and maintenance to improve your skillset as an engineer.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will have a BEng in Mechanical Engineering, or a HNC/HND with relevant experience. Proficient in the use of 3D drawing packages is an advantage, Solidworks is desirable. Experience within a manufacturing environment is advantageous for this role too.
What you'll get in return
In return for the role, you will receive an excellent Salary of between £37,500 - £42,500. The company is open to bringing in someone Junior for the role, and would pay between £30,000 - £32,500 for the role. We are a very well-equipped faculty with CNC machinery (3D routers, laser cutters and 3D printers) as well as a wide range of more traditional machinery. We provide state of the art facilities including extensive CADCAM rooms, electronics/3D printing room, lecture theatre and workshops.

Our curriculum includes teaching product design, electronics, and engineering to all age groups from 11-18 and occasionally to some of the primary school. The students at Liverpool College produce high quality products and solve real-life problems, frequently working with external clients, with many of our sixth formers progressing to university to study engineering, product design, construction and surveying or architecture.

To provide technical support to the teaching staff and students in the DT Department by the preparation of tools, equipment and materials for lessons and displays.
