The Role

This is an opportunity for a talented individual to play a key role in the delivery of Road Design & Active Travel projects across the Falkirk Council area.

The postholder will carry out feasibility, design, contract preparation, site supervision and project management of relevant schemes. Projects range from road safety schemes such as junction improvements, to design & implementation of new active travel routes throughout the Council area. The role also includes liaising with internal & external stakeholders & clients throughout projects. As a Senior officer, you will assist other members of the team with workload and development.

You will hold an HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent discipline), will be a member of a relevant institution and you will have knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, design, procurement and implementation of Roads Design & Active Travel projects.

You will be enthusiastic, ambitious and a keen mentor with experience, good organisational and presentation skills, alongside experience of current health & safety regulations. You will be IT literate, have good interpersonal and report writing skills, with an overall professionalism.

You are required to be flexible, innovative and reactive to public demands and pressures including communicating directly with member & public enquiries. You will deputise for the Roads, Bridges & Flooding Co-ordinator as required.

This is an opportunity for a talented individual to play an integral role in the management of the structure’s assets across the Falkirk area.

The postholder will provide a comprehensive, high-quality service for the management & maintenance of over 400 bridges, retaining walls, culverts & footbridges within the Falkirk Council boundary. They will carry out feasibility, design, contract preparation and site supervision of bridge & structures schemes as well as liaising with internal & external stakeholders. You will carry out works to the Capital & Revenue budgets and play a key part in the checking of building standards submissions from a structural perspective.

You will hold an HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent discipline), will be a member of a relevant institution (IEng or above) and you will have knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation.

We are seeking to recruit a permanent term-time member of staff to work as a School Technician (CDT). You should have appropriate qualifications and experience in joinery and be good at all-round DIY. Experience with Audio Visual and Information Technology would also be beneficial.

As technician, you will be required to support the school community primarily within the Craft, Design and Technical subjects but you will be required to contribute to the wider technician team support in other areas when required.

You should have a proactive approach to work and enjoy working as part of a team. Good judgement, reliability and tact are essential.

You will work 37 hours per week on a term time basis.

If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.
