The Director, Business Management Office performs the following duties:

• This supervisory position provides leadership and managerial direction for effective, uniform, and economical accomplishments of management and administrative functions and responsibilities.
• Directs the formulation and dissemination of business transformation management policies and provides direction, coordination, review and analysis of transformation initiatives.

• Supports the planning, integration, coordination, and critical management of problems with respect to requirements development and execution, contract management, and program management of complex software and hardware systems.
• Monitors contractors engaged in various projects for the program.
• Assists the Office chief in Directorate long-range planning for new and expanded program objectives specifically targeted at carrying out NASA's goals, objectives, and strategies.

The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Initiating and conducting broad analytical studies on management operations, using advanced quantitative and qualitative methods independently.
• Analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of programs or operations in meeting established goals and objectives.

Major Duties:

1. Independently manages the Executive Director's calendar and associated support needs, and directly executes the coordination and planning of a variety of support service functions for matters related to the Executive Management Team, including directives, forms, reports, purchases, general office administrative functions, correspondence preparation, briefings, special projects, studies and reports, and internal control actions.
2. Initiates and conducts studies and performs or oversees projects related to areas of assignment, including those that may be controversial of high Department or public interest, or confidential in nature. Works closely with management as well as budget staff in developing and finalizing the HCS's budget requests and spending reports.
3. Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and for the office's program related activities.
4. Establishes written guidance and procedures for managing the office's administrative activities.
5. Tracks action items and deadlines; monitors sites, emails, and minutes; and responds and assigns within purview.
6. Provides administrative and clerical support to the Executive Director, and other staff on a variety of confidential materials. Exercises sound judgment in recognizing and giving priority to material requiring urgent attention.
7. Prepares reports; maintains records of work accomplishments and administrative information as required; and coordinates the preparation, presentation, and communication of work-related information.
8. Maintains program and administrative reference materials, project files, and relevant background documents; ensures policies, procedures, and written instructions from the supervisor are available to the office; and maintains current knowledge to answer questions from team members on procedures, policies, directives, etc.
9. Reviews incoming data, written materials, and/or documentation for content to determine course of action. Defines the problem or issue; researches, gathers, consolidates, and analyzes information; develops approaches and alternatives, and makes recommendation for consideration and resolution that are typically relied upon accepted.
10. Effectively communicates with other Executive Support team members within HCS, VBA, and VA to assist with the coordination of Executive level meetings and action items.
11. Develops and implements communication activities to inform internal and external stakeholders of a variety of policies, programs, products, and services.

Functions as a Management Analyst for the Correctional Programs Branch, Central Office.

Responsible for internal communications with other Bureau of Prisons staff, communication with other government agencies and communication with the general public.

Assists in the development of division and BOP policies based on the analysis of pertinent operational data. This assistance may range from providing written reports, to identifying potentially conflicting policies in other areas, to, on occasion, assisting in drafting specific policies.

Helps in managing and coordinating of the Financial Responsibility Program and Victim/Witness section functions required for program review analysis (i.e., strategic planning, management assessment, and program analysis).

Monitors, via SENTRY, all non-committed inmates identified in the Victim/Witness Program pending designation to a Bureau of Prisons facility.
