ASSISTANT HEAD OF DEPARTMENT - SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING – FULL TIME

Due to the continued growth of the college, we are looking for a committed and proactive Assistant Head of Department for Science and Engineering to support the Head of Department (HOD) and uphold the College’s shared values.

As the successful candidate, you will collaborate closely with the HOD to exemplify and promote our college values and behaviours. You will take initiative to enhance the student teaching and learning experience and attendance by engaging with students and their families, in fostering a supportive and encouraging environment.

Your role will also involve supporting the HOD in maintaining a cohesive approach within the department. You will demonstrate your commitment to utilising the College’s Information System (markbook/PI indicators/notes) effectively, ensuring that all at-risk students receive the monitoring and support they need to succeed.

It is essential that the successful candidate have prior teaching experience and qualifications within these specialisms and be qualified to teach within this curriculum area, enabling you to deliver a high quality teaching and learning to our students.

Salary for the post will be on the Sixth Form College teachers’ pay scale, depending on qualification and experience, within the range NSP 1 £30,500 to NSP 9 £47,133 FTE per annum, plus a responsibility allowance of £2,110 per annum.

This is a unique opportunity for a Second in Department - Design Technology/Engineering to join a growing UTC.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher, with an excellent knowledge and understanding of Design and Technology and/or Engineering, who wants to further their career. Knowledge of T Levels and/or mechanical/electrical engineering would be advantageous, although is not essential. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students, equipping them with the skills and characteristics needed to ensure they are at the front of the queue for the best apprenticeships and university places.

The curriculum and facilities are cutting edge including state of the art engineering workshops, CAD suites and a 3D print room and lead our students to apprenticeships in the engineering industry.
