Hospitality Assistant – Wanstead, East London

Location: Chestnut Manor Care Home, 63 Cambridge Park, London, E11 2PR

Hourly rate: £11.55 per hour, plus 50p p/h weekend enhancement

Hours: Up to 38 hours per week

Shifts: 8.00am to 6.00pm, shifts across Monday to Sunday, including alternate weekends

About the role:

• Assist with the cleaning of services and kitchens on a daily basis
• Prepare meals
• Assist in washing crockery, cutlery, cooking and serving utensils and kitchen equipment
• Distribute to and collect crockery from the residents
• Relay and clear tea trolleys where applicable
• Maintain a clean and hygienic environment
• Carry out any reasonable request or instruction from the Home Manager or Head Chef

About you:

• The right to live and work in the UK (please note, sponsorship is not available)
• Previous experience of working in a similar position is essential to be successful
• Previous experience in a care home environment is ideal, however candidates with a hotel/restaurant background are also encouraged to apply
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work in a team, a caring nature and a positive attitude
• An understanding of Health and Safety, Infection Control and COSHH

As our Head of Hospitality, you'll ensure that our restaurants and catering facilities are maintained and delivering delicious meals to the highest standard.



You'll help us make health happen by:

• Managing, training and developing other Hospitality employees in the team and keeping a record of all instructions given, especially where use of equipment is involved
• Being responsible for the management and running of all hospitality operations including the village café bar
• Ensuring the delivery of high quality and nourishing meals to residents across the Village
• Leading on staff management duties including rota management, recruitment, staff appraisals and development
• Working collaboratively with other department heads and function organisers for special events
• Leading on the promotion of hospitality services to maximise revenue
• Developing, operating and monitoring appropriate systems for all kitchen areas, ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of all kitchen areas and equipment is maintained to the highest standard
• Responsible for the management and running of housekeeping & laundry services across the village also Kitchen & front of House
• Liaising on a regular basis with the Heads of Departments to ensure appropriate stock levels, all machinery is in good working condition and high standards of cleanliness
• Active liqueur licence required

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

You'll have experience of managing a team in a hospitality or catering environment or you may have previously worked in a similar role in a care setting. Self-motivated and a great communicator, you'll be comfortable leading a team. Your organised and flexible approach will ensure our teams are sensitive to the needs of our residents. An active team leader, always leading by example to create and deliver an excellent hospitality experience across the Village.

Because we care for vulnerable people, we'll need you to complete a DBS check as part of the recruitment process. Bupa will cover the cost of this (£40).
