Student Services is a diverse yet integrated, leading-edge Directorate which supports the student journey through guidance, support, practical services and educational opportunities for students and staff. The provision and management of quality catering options is key to a positive student experience.
We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as Head of Conference & Hospitality Services, who will oversee University-run cafes on campus, the provision of catering for a range of internal and external events and organisation of high-profile conferences & events. They will be responsible for ongoing management of these service areas ensuring professional customer-focussed provision, and compliance with existing agreements and protocols.
They will also work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to undertake ongoing review and development of these services to meet the changing needs of students, staff and external stakeholders and to maximise appropriate income generation. Your priorities will include:
- Leading and managing the work of the Conference & Hospitality Services, ensuring that teams are operating efficiently and safely and providing professional customer-centric services.
- Developing and delivering strategy, policy, and operational plans for commercial areas within the context of the University and Student Services strategic plans and agreed budget targets.
- Proactively working to maximise income from high quality commercial services that meet the evolving needs of students, staff and external stakeholders.
- Developing the offering and profile of Catering, Conference & Events opportunities for both internal and external markets.
Who we're looking for:
- Significant experience of management and leadership of the area of food service provision and/or conference & events organisation.
- Strong understanding of the service sector and local/national developments and opportunities.
- Proven track record of delivering improvement and managing change to meet organisational objectives and deliver value for money.
- High level of commercial acumen and demonstrable commitment to service excellence.
- Proven experience of leading teams and taking responsibility for managing performance.
