Parkwood Hall is a residential and day school for pupils aged 8-19 years with moderate to severe learning difficulties and other complex needs including autism and language difficulties. We are looking for a committed and pro-active Finance Assistant. The successful candidate will join a supportive school where we invest in our staff. Working alongside the Senior Finance Officer and Director of Finance & Operations in ensuring the running of an effective and efficient finance function. There is opportunity for growth in the organisation and support will be given in completing mandatory training. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Financial Record Keeping: Maintain and update financial records in Sage 200, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
• Purchase orders: Overseeing purchase orders and ensuring accuracy in pricing and quantities.
• Inventory Control: Collaborate with the inventory management team to monitor and reconcile stock levels with financial records.
• Month-End and Year-End Closing: Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all necessary adjustments and accruals are made.
• Compliance: Stay up to date with financial regulations and company policies, ensuring all financial activities are in compliance.

Requirements:

• Accounting qualification preferably AAT level 3
• A good level of expertise in Excel
• Relevant experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a retail or similar industry.
• Proficiency in using Sage 200 or similar accounting software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Solid understanding of financial principles and practices.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Parkwood Hall Co-operative Academy is a specialist day and residential school for children and young people aged 8-19 who have moderate to severe learning difficulties and autism. Many of our pupils have additional needs including ADHD, Downs Syndrome and language difficulties. Referrals come from local authorities across London, Kent and the South East.



We are committed to providing a learning environment that enables all our pupils to achieve the best they can and help prepare them for adult life so they can live as independent a life as possible. We are fortunate in having an amazing site where our children can access seventy-eight acres of green space and woodlands. We have two Forest Schools as well as purpose-built playground areas and sports areas.



We have a highly skilled team of professionals including teachers, teaching assistants, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, a school nurse and residential staff. We are looking for an exceptional individual to join our leadership team and play a key role in the future development of the organisation.



As Director of Finance & Operations, reporting to the Principal/Trustees, you will provide direction and lead operational services and a team of 20+ colleagues covering Finance, Administration, HR, Estates, Catering and ICT. You will be integral to the strategic development of the organisation and the delivery of our aims and ambitions, ensuring that we are highly efficient, effective and agile as we evolve and grow. Currently our budget is in the order of £7 million.
