The post holder will function within a team of specialist practitioners, along with the police officers in the unit. There is an expectation of the post holder to train in threat management and the specialist skill development will be through formal teaching programs, along with practice based supervision in post. The post holder will work jointly with other mental health personnel and police officers in the evaluation of concerns in each case, working to specific protocols. The post holder will take part in group referral meetings and supervision sessions that include police officers at which risk evaluations and possible interventions will be discussed. The post holder may on occasion be required to undertake assessments of the mental state of people making inappropriate attempts to gain proximity to prominent people. Such assessments may occur in public places, hospitals or the persons ordinary place of residence. The post holder will aid in the assessment and implementation of appropriate interventions, designed to contain or reduce the level of concern relating to a particular individual. Such interventions in many cases include a psychiatric liaison and/or diversion; this will mean liaising with mental health services in the persons area of origin and the provision of relevant background information which might assist the assessment. South London Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN) is looking for an enthusiastic Research Nurse to join the Agile Workforce team.

The Research Nurse will play a key role in ensuring that any research undertaken within the Care settings department safeguards the wellbeing of the patients and is conducted according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trial) Regulations 2004 and Amended Regulations 2006.

Working collaboratively with the clinical trials team and the wider multidisciplinary team in the management of research patients. They will also act as a patient advocate providing support and assistance as required and assist in the coordination and management of a portfolio of clinical research studies.

The post holder will be required to work flexibly across sites within the RDN: South London geography. The employing Trust will be Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

If applying as a registered nurse you must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering an agreed number of portfolios of clinical trials within the Secondary, Primary Care and Community settings across the South London region. They will work flexibly across the disciplines to ensure the success of the clinical research projects they are assigned to. The Research Nurse will play a key role in identifying opportunities to broaden the current portfolio.

The applicant must have considerable experience of working independently and have excellent organisational and time management skill.

● Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient/volunteer care.
● Responsible for recruiting to, and following up, patients within studies. This includes both randomised clinical trials and other high quality clinical studies. The role will involve working closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams
● Act as a patient advocate enabling patients to make informed choices concerning their involvement in the clinical trials and ensuring advice and information is provided.
● Ensure there is sufficient skill mix of staff for patient safety during clinical trials and ensuring that they are carried out within the Trust and Centre's policies and clinical trial protocol.
● Assist in clinical trials including venepuncture of volunteers when necessary ensuring that they are carried out within the Trust’s policies, research governance, Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials Regulations) Regulations 2004 and Amended Regulations 2006 Incorporating International Conference on Harmonisation of Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP) Data Protection Act and Human Tissue Act.
● Undertake clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, analysis of blood specimens, drug administration and clinical observation etc.
● Assist and advise staff, both registered and unregistered in the delivery of care to the volunteer.
● Ensure that written informed consent has always been obtained for any treatment provided for, or any sample or data taken from a Volunteer which will form part of a research study, in accordance with the Trust research governance arrangements and Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials Regulations) Regulations 2004 and Amended Regulations 2006. ● Have responsibility for the correct administration and custody of medicines according to Trust policy.

Introduction

The Health and Safety Business Partner role sits within the House of Commons Health & Safety Team within Governance Office. The Health and Safety team provides services to both the House of Commons and House of Lords and takes a holistic approach to managing the Estate using a Strategic Vision to ensure the Estate is safe.

The Health & Safety Team comprises a number of safety professionals who are collaborating closely with stakeholders across the estate to develop local arrangements aligned to ISO45001 and to maintain compliance to the corporate safety management system. They also provide assurance to senior stakeholders that the system is appropriate, effective, implemented and compliant with relevant health and safety legislation. Systems must be proportional and appropriate for all services provided including construction and maintenance operations.

The Role

The post holder will be one of a team of Health and Safety Business Partners within the House of Commons safety team and will report to the Senior Health & Safety Business Partner. This is predominantly a business support role and will assist in the development of effective arrangements across construction activities, including assurance. The role is essential given the number of projects and construction related maintenance undertaken simultaneously, the nature of work and the live environment in which work is carried out.

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

• Follow the principles of health and safety regulatory requirements and internal governance arrangements outlined in the Parliamentary Combined Health and Safety Policy and associated supplements. This also includes the Safety Centre of Excellence and the associated protocols, Local Arrangements and House policies, procedures and guidance relevant to your work.
• Conduct monitoring arrangements to support the discharge of applicable statutory duties e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act etc.
• Compile evidence, reports & dashboards etc. describing how compliance obligations are met e.g. (CDM 2015).
• Advise duty holders and risk owners on construction health and safety requirements & issues.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

• Qualifications:
  • NEBOSH General
  • Tech IOSH, or similar and equivalent membership.
• Experience of successfully managing a variety of safety issues and non-compliances, effectively adapting to changes in scope and project schedules or sudden events.
• Experience of identifying solutions to complex situations with conflicting priorities and / or stakeholder requirements.
• Able to use a range of persuasive techniques to influence behaviours of Senior Stakeholders, managers, staff, contractors and consultants to ensure their adherence to H&S policies and procedures etc.
• Experience of effectively explaining complex, technical verbal and written safety information and advice in a way that is understandable and meaningful to a range of lay and technical stakeholders. Equally able to support cultural change programmes influencing stakeholders to develop positive safety attitudes and behaviours.
• Understands the need for working successfully within a team, whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity and inclusion.

Job Summary You will be working across working age and older adult You will be carrying out occupational therapy and psychosocial assessments of people referred to the Liaison service from a variety of sources within the general hospital, including the emergency department (ED) and medical wards. To work with people presenting with a range of psychosocial needs arising in the context of physical illness, as well as people presenting to the hospital following self- harm or in a mental health. To provide rapid psychiatric assessment and safe discharge planning in the ED. To lead the care for a specified group of service users such as frequent ED attendees. To agree on a collaborative plan of care with people who use our services and their carers where appropriate and arrange appropriate after-care. To support physical acute services in managing the mental health needs of patients in the acute setting and set robust plans to support their discharge. To ensure that the relatives, carers and friends are actively encouraged to participate in care, provided with information, help and support where necessary. To mentor, supervise and teach qualified and unqualified staff including students on working with patients who experience mental health difficulties and cognitive impairment. To facilitate the teaching and training of mental health topics in the general hospital. To assist in the development and maintenance of good working relationships with general hospital staff, local mental health services, primary care and non - statutory organisations. To work flexibly as the liaison service develops to ensure the service level agreement is met and the changing needs of people who use the service in the hospital are met.
