An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Information Officer to join a dynamic and motivated Accountancy team on a permanent basis, helping Staffordshire to face the issues currently challenging local government in the area of special educational needs.

Our Accountancy Division provides a range of services with the aim of providing strategic financial advice, securing the stewardship of assets, supporting effective decision making and enabling good financial management.

The post sits in part of a friendly and approachable team within the Decision Making Support Unit.

Main Responsibilities

The main responsibilities for this role will be:

• Recording of financial information relating to pupils with special educational need.
• Recording and processing payments to educational providers.
• Raising debtor invoices.
• Assisting in maintaining financial system processes, coding hierarchies and control arrangements to provide accurate budget records.
• Processing accruals, prepayments, journals, and budget adjustments.
• Dealing with queries from schools and providers about funding for pupils.
• Monitoring the integrity of budget records to ensure accurate reporting of spending.

The Ideal Candidate

Ideally, you should be AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualified however we are happy to consider your application if you have don't have this qualification but have experience working in a financial environment.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Access to Personal Information Officer’s to join our Access to Children's Information team on a two year Fixed Term Contract.

The team is responsible for ensuring that the requirements of the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) are met, along with our statutory obligations in sharing information.

Main Responsibilities

You will:

• Conduct and coordinate the delivery of data subject rights, including rights of access, rectification and erasure regarding children’s social care records.
• Work through a significant volume of confidential documents, using IT software to redact, whilst maintaining attention to detail.
• Deal with requests from the public in a timely and consistent way with professionalism and empathy
• Provide necessary support to the requestor receiving their information, offering guidance throughout the process and the post release of files.
• Respond to requests for information from external agencies, including court orders, local authorities and other statutory or private organisations.
• Create summaries and chronologies from records in response to statutory checks.

What you'll bring:

• Detailed knowledge of Data Subject Rights in accordance with the DPA and GDPR.
• Experience in understanding the needs of vulnerable children/adults and the impact social care involvement may have had on them.

Production of the mandatory annual National Cost Collection PLICS return, meeting specific deadlines to ensure that the overall exercise is completed on time and to an appropriate standard being compliant with national guidance. Ensure that internal application vulnerability testing takes place via liaising with the Head of Application Development and managing a calendar of testing, providing the results via a report to the Information Governance Steering Group. 6. Ensure all application requests are logged on SMT for the security team to review any security issues. 7. Maintain a list of approved applications, making it available to all staff. This will include listing any not approved alongside the rationale. 8. Supporting the coordination of work on SMT relating to applications between Information Governance, MPFT Digital and SSHIS. 9. Review all digital suppliers on a monthly basis to ensure their security accreditation (such as ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus) is up to date, contacting account managers where there is a document which has expired and updating MPFT Digital Service Development with their responses. 10. Act as a liaison point between staff within Information Governance and MPFT Digital, attending meetings for both areas to ensure workstreams with cross over receive consistent advice and that timescales are known to both teams. 12. Schedule annual desktop cyber security exercises with the support of the SSHIS IG Lead or EPRR team. This will include ensuring invites go out, an agenda is created and actions are taken on the day. 13. Support in the completion of audits by third parties on compliance with current business practices and policies. This will ensure making information available on the day and acting as a point of contact for the auditor when required. 14. Support on collating and returning information related to Digital Freedom of Information (FOI) requests. 15. Attend face to face Cyber Security Training when run by the central Digital Training Team, offering advice where required and collating any questions and issues for reporting back to senior management. 16. To review monthly the number of staff using their own devices. 17. Attend project meetings monitoring the Trusts Cyber Essentials Plus Accreditation taking away actions relevant to role. 18. The Planning Team at Staffordshire County Council plays a crucial role in managing planning applications for new developments, including quarries, waste sites, and County Council projects (such as schools and roads). We’re also responsible for maintaining our Minerals and Waste Plans, which guide our decision-making process.

Main Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you’ll provide essential administrative and technical support to our Development Control and Planning Policy officers. Your tasks will include:

• Using Microsoft 365 based applications (including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, One Drive and SharePoint), and our planning software system ‘APAS’.
• Checking applications and recording and managing the fees, details, documents and plans using SharePoint and APAS.
• Preparing consultation emails, neighbour letters, site and press notices.
• Managing the reports sent to the Planning Committee Clerk.
• Recording and issuing decisions by notifying the relevant parties.
• Completing government statistical returns on a quarterly basis.
• Providing advice to applicants, Councillors and the general public.

The Ideal Candidate

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

• Very good organisational skills as well as experience of learning new ways of working and new IT systems
• Good communication skills because you’ll interact with people in the team, across the organisation and externally by phone, Microsoft Teams, in person and email, and some of them may not understand the planning process
• Confidence, energy, an appreciation of the importance of attention to detail, and that you are analytical with bias for action.
• A flexible approach to work as sometimes priorities can change at short notice e.g. when we need to get a decision out on time.
• Self-motivated and conscientious as you may be expected to work alone to get your job done.

We offer a flexible blend of office and remote work. Most team members split their time approximately 50:50, allowing for an optimal work-life balance. During the initial training period, you’ll work from the office, ensuring a smooth transition. Afterward, regular office attendance will be required for tasks like checking mail and printing letters and notices.
