In this role, you will create and manage software configuration management tools to support the identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both in-house developed and commercially purchased COTS software products. You will conduct configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product parameters are documented and adhere to standard hardware configurations. Key tasks include:
Develop Solutions and provide expert advice and guidance on Software Configuration Management (SCM) activities to stakeholders.
Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools using programming, database, or scripting languages to enhance software modelling and development.
Coordinate the design and implementation of build procedures for software product development and use.
Maintain the SCM system, including code documentation, problem reports, change requests, build documents, and software delivery.
Implement long-term objectives for software process improvement, ISO 9000 compliance, and code reuse.
Establish Configuration Identification Schemes.
Create and maintain configuration baselines for development, test, and production environments, managing changes between them.
Develop and apply CM plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the system's complexity and scope.
Review and evaluate technical decisions, incorporating input from other disciplines.
What you'll need to succeed
Australian Citizenship is mandatory, with Security Clearance at NV1 or above being highly regarded.
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent defence industry experience.
Extensive knowledge and experience in configuration management principles (identification, control, auditing, and status accounting).
Significant experience in build and release management within a complex engineering environment.
Strong understanding of development, testing, and integration concepts and practices.
Proven ability to produce high-standard technical reports.
Proficient in MS Office and relevant software packages (e.g., Software Configuration & Data Management tools).
