An exciting opportunity has arisen for an interim Head of Legal Services within East Kent Hospitals.

The post holder shallprovide the Trust with expert legal and practical advicein the area ofhealthcare law requiring excellent time management, prioritisation,professionalismand pragmatism with the ability to clearly communicate highly contentious,highly complexandhighly sensitiveinformation in a demanding environment that isfrequentlyemotive,and patient focused.

Working across the Trust and with other partner organisations;

• To ensure consistent management and professional leadership of the Trust’s dedicated Legal Services department; this will include supervision and line management of the Legal Team.

• To provide advice and training on specialist litigation issues.
• To work autonomously within delegated levels of authority. Freedom totake actionbased on own interpretation of professional/relevant policies and law,advisingthe organisation on how these should be interpreted and implemented.
• Advising the organisation how tointerpret law/cases when managing/responding to legal claims. The role is a specialist role whichis able toact within broad occupational policies and only seeking advice as necessary from external specialists.



• Tomaintainones,own high professional standards and actively seek opportunities to develop self and others within the Legal Team.

• To be professionally responsible for own workload and workload of the Legal Team, including ongoing prioritisation of workload of the whole team.

• To work within the business standards code of practice for senior managers.

• To use managerial and judgement skills to analysehighly complexsituations and formulateappropriate solutions/responses.

• To work within Trust policies and procedures

Security is an integral part of the larger Estates and Facilities Department. They are responsible for supporting and delivering all aspects of security related services throughout Canterbury and the wider Campus Network. The Security team aims to offer and deliver a flexible, value added and professional service to meet the needs and expectations of students, staff and guests.

We are currently looking to recruit a Security Officer for our night shift. The successful candidate will have experience in security or a related customer service-based area and will understand that our students, staff and guests are at the forefront of all that we do. Experience in the use of and monitoring access control/CCTV systems/fire alarm systems would also be an advantage as would a current SIA DS license.

Applicants will be able to demonstrate their customer focused skills, combined with effective written and verbal communication skills. They must be able to maintain the highest personal professional standards representing the front facing service of the University and to demonstrate the ability to deal with difficult and occasional stressful circumstances, to provide a clean, safe and secure environment for all students, staff and guests of the University. The ability to assess situations and respond efficiently, coherently and effectively is an essential requirement for this role. Candidates will be motivated, target driven and keen to learn and develop new or existing professional skills.

A shift pattern of 4 nights on / 4 nights off is worked within these posts. You will not be required to work a mixture of days and nights. Start and finish times may vary to maintain the overall flexibility required of the University security staff.

18:00hrs to 06:00hrs on a four-on-four off shift pattern

Legal Secretary - Vulnerable Client

We are recruiting for an experienced Legal Secretary to join our Vulnerable Client team. Based at both our Whitstable and Canterbury office, you will have previous experience of:

Electronic diary management, booking rooms and arranging meetings;
Telephone liaison with clients and firm's contacts;
Using digital transcription system, Bighand, to create letters, emails and documents;
Using a case management system for wills and probate matters;
Photocopying and scanning documents;
Maintaining orderly electronic files - keeping electronic filing up to date;
Attending occasional client meetings and accompanying fee earners on home visits when required.

Experience required:

An experienced Vulnerable/Private Client Secretary;
A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel would be useful but not essential;
The ability to interact sensitively with clients, face to face and on the telephone;
Fast accurate typing with attention to detail;
Ability to work as part of a team;
Flexible attitude.
