Clinical Research Nurse

This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse, educated to degree level, with at least 4 years of clinical nursing experience to work in research delivery. We are looking for someone who can multitask, is resourceful, patient centred and able to work in clinical settings as well as an office (IT, e-calendars, virtual meetings, data management, etc).

The post holder will work towards set-up, delivery, and follow-up of research studies across various specialities, hence the requirement for a sound clinical base, ability to process complex information and assuredness. Due to the nature of research your workload will cover different specialties and may vary depending on the need on the department.

However, gaining insight and experience into research governance, delivery and process which leads to evidence-based practice this is a great addition to your career and strengthens your communication, organisational skills and multidisciplinary working.

The post holder will work within the Research Team at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, with a primary aim of promoting the entry of patients into clinical trials across the Trust.

The post holder will work within the Generic Research team with a focus on DOCC, though working across other areas as work demands. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Research Practitioner with an interest in Diabetes to join MKUH Trust’s Research & Development Department on an 18 month fixed term contract. You will be liaising with clinical teams to recruit eligible patients, support delivery of clinical interventions and conduct tests according to specific study protocols. You will also be responsible for study follow up, data entry, ensuring patient safety and maintaining high levels of quality assurance. You may have the opportunity to be involved in the set-up of new trials and will be required to work within the multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality clinical research. Focus for this role will be the Activate study though activities will not be limited to this.

Candidates with extensive experience in healthcare settings and an interest in Diabetes are preferred for the role. The ideal candidate should possess a Diploma, a degree in Life Sciences, or an NVQ level 3, along with relevant courses or experience. For the position of Assistant Clinical Research Practitioner, familiarity with Clinical Research delivery is desirable.

• Communicate effectively with members of the MDT to keep them updated on trial progress.
• Communicate with research departments both within and external to the Network.

Education, Training and Development
• Keep up to date with departmental Trust, NHS and EU developments for the implementation of clinical research.
• Undertake any training and assessment of competency required for the role.

Other
• Update and maintain mandatory and statutory training as required by the Trust.
• Be flexible in approach with working times and workload management.
