Main Duties and Responsibilities The post holder will help build strong, productive relationships with clinical and non -clinical team members to ensure strategic objectives are met. Teaching and engaging others in audit and quality improvement To maintain an overview of the JAG standards and how these are being delivered across the endoscopy service. To proactively consider the nursing evidence required to meet JAG accreditation standards and work with the wider endoscopy team to ensure this is obtained and archived appropriately. To work with the nursing managers and matron to ensure the timely undertaking of the Trust audits and completion of the audit cycle. Including evaluation and appropriate action planning. To independently perform a staff satisfaction survey annually and feedback results to the wider endoscopy team. Commitment to standards, principles and long term vision of the department. Audit and Quality Improvement To coordinate all clinical audit activity within Endoscopy; work with Clinical Leads and service managers to ensure audit plan is managed and meets agreed deadlines. To lead on all JAG Accreditation nursing clinical audits within the department. To lead and co-ordinate the recommendations and action plans of all clinical audits to provide assurance that the Endoscopy service is achieving and working towards continual improvements in clinical practice. To maintain accurate records clinical audits in endoscopy via a shared electronic filing system. To identify and prioritise local requirements for quality improvement through liaison with the multi-disciplinary team. To perform a staff and endoscopy users feedback survey and complete the audit cycle annually. To provide leadership, QI, JAG standards and audit management specialist advice and support to staff within endoscopy. Support staff in their local improvement work and develop quality improvement and audit skills in the Team Leaders. To ensure that patient and staff feedback are integral to the planning and delivery of work programmes to inform decision-making. Governance / Quality Control To work closely with the Consultant Clinical Lead, Training Lead and Audit Lead to ensure the whole multi-disciplinary team are working towards the annual and five yearly JAG Accreditation submission. To ensure an effective mechanism for disseminating new and updated nursing guidelines is in place. To report the recommendations from nursing audits to the Endoscopy Users Group, ensuring authors are informed, relevant guidelines are updated and changes in practice are implemented with support from relevant leads. To be an active member of the Endoscopy Users Group. To support and actively engage with the preparation for CQC and other quality inspections. To collate evidence to demonstrate compliance with JAG Standards and lead on preparation for five-yearly JAG Accreditation submission. To develop and implement work programmes for patient experience activity which improve the ways in which the service gains the views of endoscopy patients and users of the service. To support transformational projects within the endoscopy service that involve patients, family and carers to achieve improved clinical outcomes and experiences. To develop a programme of work which reviews and maintains access to up to date patient information for all. To participate in relevant / appropriate Trust approved research projects conducted within the department. Leadership To act as an excellent role model for high quality care to engage junior staff in audit, improving knowledge and skills within the endoscopy nursing team. To create a physical and psychological environment conducive to the provision of high quality care and learning. To support the Pre-Assessment Lead in steering the service in line with JAG standards. To lead on standardising all endoscopy documentation to promote a professional and organised service. To attend Trust-wide Audit meetings to ensure consistency across specialities where appropriate and sharing of ideas. To attend the Endoscopy Users Group to present JAG report. Where required present at the Endoscopy risk and governance meetings. To facilitate the cascade of information to all endoscopy staff, support staff discussion and respond to feedback. To promote the work of the Endoscopy Department within the Trust. Education and Training To facilitate the training of a core group of staff within endoscopy to provide all elements of the audit cycle to maintain a consistently high level of service and foster a sense of ownership and responsibility for improvements within the service. To present audit findings and recommendations to nursing staff through clinical audit days. To promote the development of an evidenced-based approach to clinical care. To work with the Endoscopy PDN to ensure learning from patient experience is integrated with feedback from other sources such as complaints and incidents and is used to inform education and training for endoscopy staff. To liaise and work closely with the Endoscopy PDN to ensure all learning is embedded, staff development is recorded as part of JAG. To attend Regional and National Endoscopy Conferences as appropriate. Reporting and Analysis To provide a quarterly report to the Endoscopy Users Group as to the status of the Audit Plans To ensure the accuracy of the Endoscopy Users Group minutes and oversee the resulting action plan. To produce annual reports on the results of patient and staff feedback audits. Research and Service Development To work closely with the Service Manager and Endoscopy Matron to review both current and proposed capacity and demand through the provision of clinical expertise and insight into endoscopy processes and data in order to identify shortfalls and determine change required to deliver sustainable improvement.

Main duties: Undertake all IPC audits and provide initial feedback of audit results. Produce timely full audit reports and feedback. Follow up actions plans generated from the audits. Assists in the investigation of outbreaks of infection. Assist in working together with others including UKHSA when there is an outbreak of communicable diseases. Acknowledge own limitations and seek advice when situations arise that are beyond own knowledge base. Demonstrate a good understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures. Take the lead on the data analysis functions of the service. Including developing databases and reviewing, analysing and implementing data collection systems that produce timely and accurate data. Assists in the collection of relevant IPC and other clinical data for use by the IPC Team, including surveillance data. Maintains and updates audit and outbreak records. Undertake observations, audits and surveillance of infection control procedures and measures as part of infection prevention & control accreditation, including IV line, catheter, hand hygiene and cleaning/efficacy audits. Assist in providing an efficient, safe and confidential IPC service. Sensitively challenge inappropriate practice and poor compliance with infection prevention and control policies, within own limitations, supported by the IPCN/s. Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and provider organisations. Develop and implement audit schedules for IPC and validation audits of the hospital sites. Information Resources/Quality To acquire data for PICU database by interrogating both paper and IT systems in order to extract relevant information on PICU in accordance with data protection and confidentiality policies, taking all reasonable steps to follow up missing data. Review and audit SLAM and PCCMDS coding data on a monthly basis, supporting with income recovery. Work with the PICU team to ensure the service is compliant with recommended national datasets, completing and submitting data on a quarterly basis. To identify, organise and supervise audits to ensure service improvement. To abstract and analyse complex PICU patient records on iCLIP to ensure the accuracy of coding data and supervise the entry of relevant data on the MedICUs Paediatric database. Where necessary need to use judgement when procedures or diagnosis coding is not available to identify appropriate alternatives to ensure accurate coding for SUS/SLAM. Monitor complex PICU clinical documentation on iCLIP and escalate any problems that arise. Work with the PICU management team to implement solutions to identified problems with coding and other nationally submitted data Work with the PICU team to ensure all nationally required data is being collected appropriately. Work with the Director of PICU to review set up implementation of any new datasets as required. To be responsible for communicating PCCMDS coding rules and updates in national coding to medical, clinical and administrative staff and external agencies i.e. PICANet and Mela Solutions Ltd to ensure relevant staff understand how to code correctly for SUS/SLAM and relevant changes are made to software. To ensure Director of PICU, General Managers and PICU Consultants are aware of any changes to datasets and PCCMDS coding and how this impacts data collection, providing training and support as necessary to ensure accurate coding for SUS/SLAM. To monitor PICU Consultant coding and highlight errors, providing training and support as necessary.

Salary Progression Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 8d with a full-time starting salary of £83,571 with a pay step increase after 5 years service. For posts based in Inner London, the above salaries will include the additional supplement of 20% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,608 per annum and a maximum payment of £7,097 per annum. This is offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and is based on office location.
