1. Performs complex, nonstandard accounting transactions in the control and review of travel and transportation funds and accounts for a number of different organizations. Receives, reviews, and processes all types of travel and transportation accounting documents (e.g., individual, purchase orders for group travel, moving of household goods, etc.).
2. Maintains, controls, and reconciles accounting transactions and records for multiple accounts. Reviews and maintains complex accounting transactions (e.g., reconciling accounts in accounting system involving extensive subdivision of accounts, frequent and varied adjustments to accounts, or extensive balancing and reconciling of detailed summary accounts).
3. Analyzes and examines accounting data and accounts to resolve nonstandard transactions, complaints, or discrepancies. Utilizes extensive knowledge of accounting procedures and techniques to verify specialized ledger(s) and automated system(s) of accounting data.
4. Prepares reports and performs other miscellaneous technical tasks in support of accounting function(s). Prepares monthly reports, correspondence, and follow-up on flagged documents (e.g., inactive, unliquidated obligations, etc.). Prepares the required forms and enters data into the computerized system.
5. Provides customer service for vendors, resource advisor, financial analyst, and other external and internal customers. Checks records/files in automated accounting systems on status of payments and payment dates, and follows up with OPLOC as necessary.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:

• Leads the planning, execution and assessment process of each Defense POW /MIAAccounting Agency (DPAA) course.
• Responsible for compiling records of all relevant instruction materials and updating the DPAA portals.
• Develops original coursework through study of Agency activities and processes aimed at improving organizational effectiveness and mission accomplishment.
• Provides the Senior Operations Officer and Directorate leadership with advice and guidance on matters, such as development of time-phased planes, guidelines and direction for accomplishment of prescribed objectives.
• Provides written and oral guidance, and or briefings on current and proposed courses for students with use of automation tools.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:

• Serves as a forensic anthropologist providing professional, scientific leadership to a team engaged in forensic and biological anthropological studies and investigations leading to establish the medico-legal identity of skeletal remains.
• Performs professional anthropological laboratory examinations and testing to current laboratory standards and in keeping with published best practices on remains to determine ancestry, age, sex, stature, trauma, surgical intervention, and other physical characteristics and anomalies in support of forensic identification.
• Plans and directs investigations and archaeological excavations designed to achieve casualty resolution.
• Serves as Program leader for overseeing and performing forensic recoveries of missing U.S. Service Personnel using modern forensic and archaeological techniques.
• Correlates investigative evidence with laboratory findings to achieve identification of casualties in accordance with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) Laboratory standards.
• Provides quality control services and control reviews to DPAA of identification determinations completed by laboratory teams.

Collects deposits daily from activities as a courier along with making change for customers and processing bank deposits to the local bank deposits to the local bank.
Performs double-entry accrual accounting work in order to maintain a combination of journals and ledgers.
Examines, verifies, and analyzes a variety of documents to determine their mathematical correctness, validity, and clerical accuracy.
Prepares reports monthly, quarterly, and annually, reflecting the financial condition of activities services by the accounting unit.
