A client within the Public Sector based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Clerk of Works to join their highways team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within the public sector.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to undertake and assist in the supervision, administration and maintenance of civil engineering works ensuring compliance with latest engineering principles and standards
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- support the Senior/Principal Engineer in managing highway improvements and other schemes
- work with other parties having an interest in transport provision seeking to improve the district through an integrated approach
- take a leading responsibility for controlling the quality of construction work by drawing to the attention of contractor's staff the Council's requirements in relation to workmanship and materials, advising them of any shortcomings and issuing instructions to contractors within the scope of delegated responsibility.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require a minimum of 5 years' experience in supervision or direction of contractors on highway, structural or civil engineering works with a minimum of 3 years' experience in supervising highway works.
It will be essential to have an extensive level of knowledge of the below:
- Carries Out Performance Management - covers the employees capacity to manage their workload and carry out a number of specific tasks accurately and at a high standard
- Communicates Effectively - covers a range of spoken and written communication skills required as a regular feature of the job.
- Carries Out Effective Decision Making - covers a range of thinking skills required for taking initiative and independent actions within the scope of the job.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £25 - £45 per hour Umbrella Ltd DOE.
