Solutions Architect (.Net/Java, Microservices, Cloud)
Bournemouth, London or Manchester
£80000 - £95000 + 16% Bonus + Hybrid Working + Healthcare
Your new company
I am engaged on a project to recruit a Solutions Architect to join one of the leading Healthy living brands in the UK. You'll officially be working in the Financial Services sector with access to excellent benefits and support, leading architecture projects for a company which genuinely encourage wellness and have a positive impact on people's lives.
This role is offered with hybrid with 2 days in one of their main 'home' office locations; Bournemouth, Manchester or London.
Your new role
This is not a people management position, you will have ownership over 1 of their 4 customer journeys which are central to the businesses growth. You will have been involved in the presentation of solutions regularly to both technical and non-technical team members. You'll work closely with Principal Engineers who understand the nitty gritty of the application estate and do the low level design. You will sit above this, aligning technical principles, having oversight of the architecture and producing high-level designs. They are currently replacing a number of legacy applications and championing microservices, containers and cloud technologies, so it's an exciting time to be joining.
You'll be working closely with senior engineering management, often suggesting the most suitable way forward. Never satisfied with the status quo, you constantly push improvements forward and happily manage upward to make progress.
The key element that ties their mission together - they reward people for making positive/healthy lifestyle choices, and this extends to their employees. They are constantly launching new partnerships with the biggest brands which means the Dev team needs to operate with the mentality of a start-up, it's constantly changing and is truly innovative. If you're looking for the stability of a household name, without the bureaucracy associated with a corporate, then I am sure this will be of interest.
What you'll need to succeed
We're looking for an experienced Solutions Architect with 5+ years in a similar role. We're looking for a track record of delivering Microservices (ideally using Kafka, Kubernetes etc) and a subject matter expert in driving technical changes within an organisation.
You will have progressed from a Development background and will have Microsoft .Net or Java knowledge (ideally paired with JavaScript) and will be excellent at the database layer (SQL). It's not a coding role but you need to understand the Principal Engineers you're guiding and the problems they may face.
It cannot be underestimated how important communication and interpersonal skills are for this hire, working closely with senior stakeholders and across multiple teams within the organisation.
What you'll get in return
You'll work for an award-winning bluechip company with an excellent reputation, both in the market and amongst its employees, one that champions diversity and Women in Technology.
The benefits are market leading and include a 16% bonus scheme, 6% matched pension, Flexible Working, Health Insurance, Health & Wellbeing Incentives, almost unlimited Training & Development Opportunities, up to 30 days holiday + bank holidays, Reward & Recognition Schemes and multiple companywide events/socials.
