This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary, Office of Acquisition and Property Management located in Washington, DC.

This position is being advertised as both location negotiable after selection and with a duty station of Washington, D.C and Denver, CO with the option of telework. If applying to "negotiable after selection", this means that your duty station will be based off your home address and you will be a full-time remote worker. If applying to a specific duty station, you may be allowed to telework a set number of day(s) per pay period, with supervisory approval.


At the full performance level GS-15 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Develops complex space management strategies, multi-year plans, policy, regulations, and procedures through collaboration across organizational boundaries. Leads Departmental space management programs pertaining to the acquisition, utilization, and management and disposal of space, driving toward consistency across all bureaus/offices while remaining sensitive to diverse organizational cultures.
2. Formulates and develops national strategies, policies, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to the most complex or critical aspects of space management for the Department, e.g., collocation, consolidation, space reduction strategies, financial savings. Coordinates the application of comprehensive policies and practices for the Department.
3. Effectively anticipates, addresses, and resolves challenges across program areas with professionalism and tactfulness.
4. Develops and coordinates national policy and guidance for the Department's housing program in alignment with leadership intent and direction, OMB policy, and program goals. Represents the Department and provides expertise, leadership, and advice to the National Housing Council.
5. Provides expertise, technical advice, and coordination to Interior bureaus on legislative and regulatory developments, changes in space management and housing practices, and trends affecting the Department's requirements for, and use of, space and housing. Serves as a DOI focal point for portfolio-centric space management and accountability to optimize the Department's portfolio of owned and leased assets.
6. Represents the Department at interagency meetings on governmentwide space management and housing policy and initiatives. Secures necessary coordination and cooperation with the General Services Administration (GSA), OMB, and other agencies, as required. Provides leadership on inter- and intra-agency space management committees and work groups.
7. Gathers, tracks, and analyzes data and completes applicable reports for Interior on space management and housing performance and accountability, identifying root cause of variance in a timely manner, implementing corrective action to ensure compliance with law, regulation, policy, the Department of the Interior Strategic Plan, and Asset Management Vision.

• Serves as a trained member of a wildland fire module or hand crew or engine crew executing fuels management, fire suppression, monitoring, and post-fire activities.
• Specific specialty areas of work within fire modules or crews include fire engine operation, fire management planning, fuels management, and prevention.
• Work may also include all hazard and emergency response activities.
• May be assigned to carry out specialized assignments such as tree falling, backfire and burnout operations; utilizes a variety of specialized tools, equipment and techniques while actively managing wildfires.
• May be required to operate light vehicles and 4X4s.

• Perform the full range of supervisor duties and responsibilities in managing the Regulations team.
• Serve as the project manager and drafter of rules and responsible for the overall management of Regulations, which includes rulemaking, information collection authorization and renewal, and Federal Register notices.
• Provide expert guidance on the statutes, regulations, case law, policies, and practices that govern or impact the production and revenue reporting and collection processes for oil, gas, coal, solid minerals, and geothermal resources.
• Advise, brief, or deliver presentations to senior executives, industry groups, or other Department Stakeholders.

• Responsible for serving as the line official in charge of the daily operations and special projects of Indian Affairs assigned at the Agency that include Indian Trust responsibility, Indian Services and Administration.
• Development of current and long range plans for executing programs consisting of Natural Resources, Realty, Tribal Government, Self-Determination, Environmental, Housing Improvement, Transportation, Forestry/Fire.
• Direct on-going effort to promote the economic, social, educational, and health needs of the Indian people.
• Meet with the Tribal Chairman and President, Tribal Council and Board/Committees for special meetings.
• Prepare reports relative to the situation of Tribes to include socio-economic conditions, status of condition of Indian natural resources, and other similar matters.
• Direct the planning, coordination, and execution of all activities pertinent to the tenure and management of real estate under the jurisdiction of the Agency.
• Coordinate requirements under Public Law 93-638, as amended, the Indian Self Determination and Education Assistance Act, and makes recommendations on all grants/contracts applications.
• Direct preparation, review, and/or approves budgets for use of funds derived from the harvesting of Indian trust forestry products and withdrawal of funds.
• Serve on the Region-wide team for workforce planning to ensure implementation and execution of daily duties for the Region/Agency, including hiring.
• Direct the work of Agency employees of various grades and programs.

At the full performance level GS-14the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Serves as team lead for change and release management. Monitors and distributes workload in a variable workload environment to ensure proper utilization of resources.
2. Monitors change and release management processes to ensure compliance with BIO written guidance and workflows.
3. Ensures the auditability of the change management process to prevent audit findings.
4. Manage projects as assigned. Creates project plans and monitors progress and resources. Performs risk analysis for projects. Prepares reports on project status.
5. Educates and assists other BIO staff in the proper use of change and release management tools and the associated process flows.
6. Serves as project manager for major software releases and project quality gates.
7. Coordinates, documents and educates Stakeholders on change and release management workflows.

A Wildland Firefighter (GS-03) is an entry level member on a wildland fire crew. Performs assignments such as developing a working knowledge of fire suppression and fuels management techniques, practices, and terminology; may assist in more specialized assignments such as backfire and burnout, mobile and stationary engine attack.

A Wildland Firefighter (GS-04) is a trained wildland firefighter. May be assigned to carry out specialized assignments such as tree felling, backfire, and burnout operations; utilizes a variety of specialized tools, equipment and techniques while actively managing wildfires. May be required to operate light vehicles and 4X4s.

A Wildland Firefighter (GS-05) is a trained and experienced wildland firefighter performing all aspects of wildland and prescribed fire operations including preparation, ignition, monitoring, holding and mop-up. Gathers and considers information on weather data, topography, fuel types and fire behavior in responding to wildland fire incidents. May be required to operate light vehicles and 4X4s.
