Your new role

The Solutions Architect will manage projects and changes from inception to delivery from a technical perspective, working alongside the wider project team to deliver complete solutions.

The role will involve engaging with internal teams and senior management to gather requirements and draft technical solution specifications. Then working with the internal teams, external vendors, and partners to deliver the end solution.

Main Responsibilities & Duties:

Technical Project Management

• The Solutions Architect will be responsible for the full end-to-end management and delivery of the project from a technical perspective, generally working alongside a business project manager to deliver the wider full end-to-end solution.
• Drive the requirements gathering for projects, ensuring all business area needs are captured, clear and understood.
• Create/Participate in the creation of project plans and ensuring realistic timelines are set, using Microsoft Project, Kanban and other tools.
• Creation of detailed specifications (both technical and functional) for use internally and working with third party vendors. Ensuring the specifications are fully understood.
• Support the build and test cycle teams wherever necessary to ensure timelines are adhered to and output is of high quality.
• Host end of sprint demo's for stakeholders and subject-matter experts.
• Aid in managing change and scope creep within the project.
• Ensure acceptance into service processes is following the release of a project into production.
• Run or support project close down and lesson learned activities.
• Key KPI's for this role will be measured on project delivery to time, budget, and quality.

Day to Day

• Alongside managing projects, the Solutions Architect will also be expected to manage small/medium changes through to completion, working with a scaled down project framework model.
• Some helpdesk support may be required to triage tickets and assign them to appropriate resolver groups.
• Some technical development may be required to support in house applications.
• Some research and development may be required to explore new technologies and solutions.

General

• Work to meet the departmental objectives and achieving required quality results.
• Be fully conversant and ensure all company and departmental policies, procedures and standards are adhered to at all times.
• Carry out additional duties requested, as the requirements of the business demand.
• Attend training, meetings and company events.
• Comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures.

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience of being involved in complex technical projects, preferably from a software development background.
• An advanced understanding of modern website architecture, web API's and MS SQL database design is essential.
• Experience in Microsoft .Net technologies is required.
• Experience with data migration projects an advantage but not essential.
• Experience in the insurance industry an advantage but not essential.
• The ability to understand complex technical processes and create pragmatic solutions is critical to success in this position.
• The ability to manage time, create plans and prioritise work effectively.
• A great communicator with the ability to communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to peers and management-level colleagues.
• Strong interpersonal skills enabling the ability to comfortably communicate with senior business leaders, external 3rd party vendors and the wider internal team.
• Proactive and enthusiastic in learning and seeking out new technologies.
• Experience working within the full end to end project life cycle.
• A motivated individual that has sound judgement.
• Educated to degree level in computer science or similar relevant field or proven relevant experience in the field is desired.

Contract Mechanical Design Draughtsman

Aylesbury

3 month min contract

I'm working with a client based in Aylesbury who are looking for a contract draughtsman to assist the design team with a back log of work. The position will be working alongside another Contractor and 3 X Perm Design engineers.

Process:
Download a role off of the task queue > Create a proposal/Job Spec > Cross checking the design with regs > Design > Testing through hand calculations > Creation of Design documentation > Prepping / Finalising Proposal documentation

Hand calculations - Testing of the product to prove that it works

CAD Software = Solidworks & IES - Modelling software for Building & ventilation
Working with the other 3 Design engineers to develop engineering drawings - for Machining and textiles
Working with the head of design on engineering design reviews

Responsibilities:

• Design for manufacture
• Design qualification
• Collaborating with design team and engineering staff
• Be a primary contact for clients (depending on experience)

Experience:

• Previous design experience in a tool-making/engineering environment
• Experience with Siemens NX is preferred
• Experience designing to tight tolerances
• Ability to work effictively in a team
