Design Engineer required for a leading Valve Design/Manufacturing Company, located near Wimborne, Dorset.
Purpose of Job:
To contribute to business profitability and development through the design and development of new products in accordance with specification targets, matching the company's manufacturing capability, and to provide technical support for existing products.
Key Result Areas
Engineering Design / Development
• Design and development of valves and other hydraulic / pneumatic products by applying experience and proven principles to achieve specification targets.
• Creation of Technical Files, Catalogue Data Sheets, Support Certification activities.
• Engineering design calculations.
• Analysis and interpretation of technical specifications and standards
• Supervision and reporting of development testing
• Write reports for both internal and external circulation.
• To keep abreast of Engineering developments on all aspects and particular materials, applications, testing and production processes.
Engineering Drawings
• Production and revision of detailed drawings and related documents for manufacturing.
• Checking of Engineering drawings and documents.
• Organising and filing of engineering data and records.
• Creation of development procedures.
Business/Manufacturing Support
• Analysis and reporting of products subject to warranty claims.
• Provision of support to assembly, test department, manufacturing, sales and customers.
• Creation of production procedures
Customer Relationship Management
• Direct contact with customers and suppliers on technical matters, including occasional visits off-site.
Special Features/Skills Required:
• Innovative,
• 3D CAD competence,
• methodical
• report writing
• effective communication at various levels
• Preferred, although not essential: Onshore/Offshore oil and gas topside/subsea hydraulic control valve experience, although training can be provided.
Qualifications and Skills
• Minimum HND in Engineering. Degree preferred.
• 3D CAD competence. SolidWorks preferred although not essential as training will be provided.
Hours: Full-time - 37 hrs per week (Mon-Fri), 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 1pm on Friday.
