What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Manager, Real Estate Credit Risk, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of real estate credits made up of commercial mortgages, interim construction, and large corporate real estate financings located across Canada. You will adjudicate credit applications within delegated lending authority and ensure that line lending officers exercise sound credit practices through periodic consultation and visits. You will also be required to liaise closely with CIBC business officers and other risk managers in managing credit risk transactions. This is also a great opportunity for a Relationship Manager to develop their career.

How you’ll succeed

• Assess credit applications - Review the actual and proforma cash flow of real estate assets and financial history of sponsors to assess exposure to the Bank from a risk/return perspective. You’ll also approve or decline credit applications within your designated portfolio and work with the Senior Director, Vice President and more where applications exceed your delegated limits.

• Monitor risk - Provide ongoing assessment of the portfolio, including the timely review of risk ratings, as well as the monitoring of action plans for high risk/watch list accounts and accounts that could potentially be added to the high risk/watch list accounts list.

• Establish action plans and prepare recommendations - Describe corrective measures to be implemented to address credit related issues, as well as develop corrective measures to address credit related issues and monitor the effectiveness of such measures. You’ll partner with Risk Management colleagues and front-line relationship management teams on credit risk management matters and assist the relationship managers and market leaders to recommend the best approach to fulfil their credit risk mandate.

Who you are

• You can demonstrate experience. In front line real estate account relationship management, credit risk management, and/or adjudication experience within the banking/financial sector. Knowledge of lending products, policies and guidelines; local and national market knowledge and legislative and regulatory requirements. Proficiency in analyzing financial statements is an asset.

• You have a degree. In Business, Management, and/or related field. MBA, CA, CFA or similar are viewed as an asset.

What you’ll be doing

This role will support the coordination and management for both ongoing vendor governance activities and support the Real Estate Service Model Transformation Program. The team is responsible for governance and relationship management of our third-party supplier Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions (BGIS) and includes support for all domain areas of the BGIS agreement: Facilities Management, Lease Administration, Construction Project Management, Professional Services and Finance.   This role, reporting to the Director, Real Estate Program Management, will require adaptability, willingness to learn, and the ability to understand strategy and how this translates into day-to-day operations and program / project execution.

• Program Support - Assist in coordinating and supporting the Enterprise Real Estate Service Model Transformation Program.
• Supplier Governance - Support ongoing assessment of supplier and sub-contractor relationships and operational effectiveness.
• Multi-Sourcing Governance - Assist in managing multiple governance workstream stream meetings with various internal stakeholders and key suppliers. Ensuring 3rd party vendor manager maintains minutes when necessary, ensure timelines are adhered to, and dashboards are updated.
• Service Performance Management - Assist in analyzing service delivery models in the various contracts to ensure KPI & SLA are adhered to. Making recommendations on behavioral trends with suppliers who deliver services to CIBC.
• Financial Management - Assist in reviewing vendor spend, tracking, and adherence to payment terms of contracts. 
• Administration - Ensuring Minutes are managed and maintained, Supplier Governance Share points are compliance ready, assist in booking meeting rooms and working with team(s) schedules.
• Assist Supplier Governance extended teams such as Facilities Management, Construction Project Management, Leasing etc. on their compliance & administrative activities. 
• Managing the delivery of 3rd party Procurement Plan.
• Subject Matter Expert on compliance related activities such as user access testing, BCP Plans, KPI reviews of subcontractors.
