We are working with a leading, award winning Contractor who specialise within retrofit decarbonisation works particularly within the Social Housing sector. The company are passionate about reducing carbon footprint and help to lower people's energy bills by making their properties warmer and more energy efficient.
They have experienced an extended period of growth and have recently been awarded several new contracts and as such are looking to add to their experienced, trusted commercial team. The company have great staff retention and a history of promoting within, and lots of opportunity for progression as the business continues on their exciting growth path.
They are currently recruiting for a passionate individual to join them as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join them - this will be based in the company's Wigan offices, with travel to sites required approximately 1-2 days a week. Sites will be across the Greater Manchester region but may occasionally be further afield (travel expenses paid!)
Reporting to a Commercial Manager and working closely with a QS, you will be responsible for ensuring contracts are delivered to maximum profitability and efficiency from site set up stages through to final accounts.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of bills and/or schedules for quantities of materials, labour and services required in the construction and refurbishment of building works in relation to both Estimating and Post contract duties.
- Assist in the preparation and valuation of progress and submission to client
- Sub-contract procurement including sending out enquiries, collating prices, negotiation, order placement
- Sub-contract valuations and payments in connection with any contract.
- Preparation of internal cost reporting measures.
- Advice when required on cost management, or value management.
- Maintaining quality control procedures.
- Undertaking all tasks in a timely fashion and as required by management.
- Ensure cash flow is maximised
The successful applicant will ideally be degree qualified (or equivalent) and have a stable career progression.
Experience within Social Housing refurbishment or decarbonisation projects would be advantageous.
