The role
At Real Life Options we support our service users to live their life the way they choose, we have a strong emphasis on person centred care to enable our service users to live as independently as possible.
You will be supporting individuals with a variety of needs. A typical day would start with a handover from the previous day, following daily planner, helping with finances, personal care, domestic support and medication. A crucial part of the support you provide will be centred on social activities in the local community such as; going to the gym, swimming, cinema, discos, football matches and visiting places of interest.
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 6 months experience in support worker (or similar) role. Our service users can present challenging behaviour, therefore experience is essential. Candidates should have the ability to follow detailed support plans to ensure a consistent approach. Candidates need to be able to learn different forms of communication and adapt to working with several individuals with varying needs.
Working with the people we support is incredibly rewarding. You will be part of a supportive, responsive and friendly team. There is a huge amount of knowledge and experience in our staff team. We have an attrition rate of less than 10%, which is excellent for the sector and a reflection of what a good place this is to work.
The people we support receive 1:1 and 2:1 throughout the day. Shift patterns are generally 7:00am-3:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm and 8:00pm-11:00pm (sleepover shift),
There are also outreach shifts that are anywhere from 3 to 8 hours between the hours of 7:00am – 11:00pm. Staff may also be required to do Waking Nights to cover holidays/ sickness.
.An Enhanced PVG is required for this role. Previous experience is desirable for this position although full training will be provided.
