The trainee surveyor is on a 20-month training program to learn how we perform our classification services. The program includes office work and field work. During the training period the trainee does not have authorization to work independently and will as such always be accompanied by a qualified DNV surveyor or DNV technical expert.
The trainee surveyor shall hold a master’s degree within Naval architecture, Industrial Cybernetics or Marine Engineering from a reputable university and is selected based on merits from university and personal qualifications and suitability.
Daily tasks include:
1. Conduct Class and Statutory surveys on fleet-in-service ships and floating offshore structures under supervision of a trainer.
2. To assist with the preparation of technically accurate and timely reports.
3. To carry out other technical jobs under supervision, as assigned by the fleet-in-service planner.
And
1. Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the rules, regulations, instructions, guidelines and quality requirements of DNV.
2. To gain relevant qualification elements for a surveyor in the internal training and accreditation system
3. Maintain the confidentiality of clients' business, processes, designs, development, and documentation.
4. Communicate to line management at the earliest appropriate opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation or integrity of DNV.
5. Exhibit customer-oriented focus through promoting DNV onboard or on-site and by acting as a technical resource for customer questions.
Qualification
· Degree qualification, e.g. Eng, or equivalent preferably in Maritime/Naval architecture/engineering with strong academic results.
· General knowledge on Maritime.
· Maximum 1-2 years of experience working in the yard for design and shipping company in technical/engineering will be an advantage.
· Good communication skills with cross language capability, overcoming culture barriers to enhance team performance.
· Fluent English, spoken and writing.
· Willingness and flexibility to relocate abroad.
· Interest to work in an international environment.
