What you'll need to succeed
They will consider any of the following- a full degree is NOT required
1) A Building Surveyor/ Quantity Surveyor/ Project Manager on their final year of their degree apprenticeship2) A Graduate Building Surveyor/ Quantity Surveyor/ Project Manager without any hands on experience. You may have completed your degree but have struggled to secure your first degree related position.3) A candidate with experience working in the construction sector- you may have worked as a site manager/ maintenance manager etc. A qualification is not required.

Your new role
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, you will be required to assist with the commercial management of a number of housing projects from conception to completion. You will be required to assist in all aspects of subcontractor relationships within the commercial department to ensure cost-effective delivery of the business plan, maximising profit and value. The successful candidate will be involved in communication between head office and all suppliers, subcontractors, merchants, and site staff.

To allow development into the role, the candidate would currently be one of the following. However, the client is open to people with no experience.

• A-levels or equivalent qualification to enable progress to a quantity surveying degree
• Currently enroled on a quantity surveying degree - ongoing progression of the degree course
• Recently qualified from a quantity surveying degree course looking for a career path into industry.

OVERVIEW

Sellafield Limited (SL) has identified the need for project and program management support to deliver 17 major construction projects associated with developing the infrastructure required for the reprocessing and making safe of nuclear waste material, over a 20 year period programme duration. The support SL requires is being procured through the selection of 4 Program and Project Partners (PPP) to form an integrated team, including KBR.

Project Controls and Commercial Services (PCCS) is the mechanism in which Sellafield Ltd have engaged KBR Ltd to provide Commercial and Project Controls Services to the portfolio of enterprise projects, in addition to the original PPP programme. Those services include the provision of some 150 Commercial and Project Controls Professionals across the Sellafield Ltd network of Projects.

ASSISTANT QUANTITY SURVEYOR

JOB ROLE

Responsibilities:

• Basic subcontract management duties.
• Delivery of commercial actions with support from the senior commercial team.
• Communication and collaboration with other members of the commercial team, supply chain and framework partners.
• Management of commercial documentation.
• Provide support to the operational function.
• Provide support to commercial administration and reporting.
• Support in the delivery of project deliverables.
• Supporting the interim payment process and final accounting.
• Engagement with project stakeholders on commercial matters.
• Reporting to a senior member of the commercial team to provide commercial assistance to the day-to-day aspects for contract administration of the PCCS.

Skills and experience:

• Some previous experience in Quantity Surveying
• Experience of the self-delivery of basic commercial duties.   
• Awareness of administrating construction contracts.
• Experience of working as part of a team.
• Knowledge and experience of MS Office.
• Good time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
• Capable of obtaining (or currently holds) UK Nuclear industry clearance.
• High level of integrity and awareness of the management of sensitive information
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
