About The Job

Help customers with technical operating issues by carrying out troubleshooting and field service requests submitted through the International Marine Service Desk. The International Service Engineers for Water, Wind & Fuel Systems will provide technical support for the Alfa Laval Boiler System.

Job Description

Follow to all safety procedures and promptly report any unsafe practices or incidents.

• Perform planned service, commissioning, and troubleshooting for Alfa Laval systems on board vessels, including Ballast Water Treatment (PureBallast), High-Speed Separators (HSS), Fuel Conditioning Modules (FCM), Freshwater Generators (FWG), and other equipment.
• Prepare for service jobs by following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure efficient execution.
• Travel domestically and internationally to service jobs on board vessels, with the potential to sail with the vessel if required.
• Execute maintenance, repair, advanced troubleshooting, commissioning or other related services onboard.
• Communicate effectively with customers in English to ensure clear understanding and satisfaction.
• Document all work performed, and conclusions drawn while on board, and ensure that service reports are signed by the customer.

Project Overview

We are seeking one or more graduate research interns (ideally full time students currently pursuing a PhD degree) in computer science to join the “Towards an Immersive Workplace” project. This project is part of Task “T1” of a five-year, ambitious research program on "Mens, Manus and Machina—How AI Empowers People, Institutions and Cities in Singapore (M3S)."

Successful applicants for this position will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research that builds new capabilities for AI-enhanced human-robot interaction, with a special focus on supporting efficient and collaborative spatial/3D sensing and comprehension in industrial environments, such as airport tarmacs and logistics warehouses. The end goal is to build exciting new capabilities that allow robots and humans to work together, interactively and in close proximity, with the spatial sensing helping agents embedded in robots understand and situate human instructions, queries and commands, issued naturally in untethered, field settings.

The research intern, working part-time (10-16 hours per week) will be specifically involved in the development of new, energy-efficient and reliable spatial sensing technologies, such as LIDAR (3D). The goal is to allow teams of humans and robots, working in close proximity in a common physical environment, to achieve appropriate spatial awareness. The research will focus on addressing challenges such as (i) interference between multiple LIDAR sensors, when operating in a shared physical environment, (ii) optimized sharing of LIDAR-sensed point cloud data among collaborating peers, and (iii) resource-efficient augmentation of LIDAR sensing via use of additional cheaper sensors (e.g., RGB and thermal cameras). These techqniues will progressively be combined with additional research, being developed in complementary efforts within the overall T1 project, that tackles topics such as non-obtrusive human attention capture and efficient multi-modal DNN comprehension for human instructions, to support more accurate understanding of human instructions and preferences, whether explicit or implicit.

The T1 team is led by distinguished scholars, including Profs. Sanjay Sarma, Daniela Rus and Jinhua Zhang from MIT; and Prof. Archan Misra from Singapore Management University. The proposed research described above will be spearheaded by Prof. Misra.

Job Description

The Centre for International Law (CIL) was established in 2009 as a university-level research institute at NUS. It is located on the Bukit Timah Campus of NUS, together with the Faculty of Law. CIL engages in both legal and multi-disciplinary research on wide variety of international law issues. Its mission is to enable Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region to play a more significant role in the promotion and development of international law. CIL's vision is to become a regional intellectual hub and thought leader for research on and teaching of international law.

Ocean Law & Policy is one of CIL’s core programme areas and was established over 10 years ago. It is co-headed by Emeritus Professor Robert Beckman and Dr. Tara Davenport. The members of CIL’s Ocean Law & Policy team currently conduct research on a broad range of cutting-edge ocean law and policy issues of interest to Singapore, the region and the international community, including maritime security, marine environment, climate change and law of the sea, biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction, maritime disputes, technology and the law of the sea, deep seabed mining, fisheries and submarine cables. CIL researchers go on to a variety of positions in government, academia and international organisations.

CIL invites applications for a Research Fellow position from candidates with a PhD related to public international law, law of the sea or maritime law and a demonstrable interest in oceans law and policy. This position will be on a 2-year contract. • Experience in working in a team and ability to work independently with minimal supervision;

Job Responsibilities:

Assist in preparing teaching guide and curriculum

• Assist in planning and preparing of lesson materials
• Attach to senior teachers and assist in marking worksheets
• Co-teach / relief teaching small group of students
• Support weak students
• Help to evaluate and monitor students’ progress and provide feedback

Who are we looking for?

• Good communication and rapport building skills
• Dedicated and committed team player with initiative to work independently
• Need to commit to at least 6 months
• Workday: 4 weekdays (1.30 pm to 9pm) and 1 weekend (8.45am – 6pm)
