A post has arisen for a dynamic, flexible and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant based in Ty Gwyn
Ty Gwyn Education Centre is a secondary age Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) located in a newly refurbished building in the Aberdare area, serving the whole of RCT and learners from age 11 to 16 years.
Ty Gwyn Education Centre offers specialist provision for up to 60 learners with behavioural, emotional and social needs that cannot be met in their mainstream school. Learners are a mixture of full and part time (KS3 only) and access a broad and balanced curriculum of core subjects (English, Maths and Science) and a range of vocational and foundation subjects. There is a growing emphasis on developing learner wellbeing and mental health and Ty Gwyn is a Trauma Informed School with a growing team of therapeutic support staff.
As an LSA, you will be supporting and guiding children and young people to make positive choices and engage in learning. You will be a role model, a lifelong learner and a trusted responsible figure. You will also have responsibility for a supporting a form group and their welfare and wellbeing and play a full part in the life of the PRU. There is a requirement to undertake some lunch and break time duties.
Ty Gwyn Education Centre is making progress after a challenging year, external examination results have improved on the previous year and standards of teaching and learning and the management of relationships are continuing to improve under a strengthened leadership and TLR team.
