We have a vacancy for Trust grade doctors in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at University Hospitals Dorset to support the continuing expansion of service. This is an ideal opportunity for an anaesthetist with 3 or more years’ experience to consolidate their expertise with an on-going commitment to career development and education. The successful applicant will provide critical care cover and anaesthetic theatre work both in and out of normal working hours, with onsite and distant supervision by a Consultant Anaesthetist/Intensivist.

We have the opportunity for an enviable work life balance with miles of sandy beaches and a large natural harbour on our doorstep, as well as easy access to the Purbecks, New Forest and beautiful Dorset countryside.
To provide resident cover for the Critical Unit in office hours; as well as shifts of cover with non-resident supervision by a Consultant Intensivist out of hours. Additionally he/she/them will provide anaesthesia during daytime hours for the surgical and interventional specialties within the Trust, again with indirect (onsite) supervision from Consultants.

• Undertake advanced clinical assessment of the patient to diagnose medical/surgical conditions and initiate treatment.

• Undertakes daily reviews of critical care patients and formulates and discusses plans on Consultant ward rounds.
• To actively support the discharge planning process of patients.
• Recognises own limitations and effectively seeks appropriate help.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient
