This is an exciting opportunity for a doctor interested in expanding their skills, experience and interests in Geriatric medicine to play a key role in delivery of high-quality care to frail older people in North Derbyshire. It would suit someone who has a particular interest in this specialty, or who wishes to acquire valuable transferable skills.
As a core member of the multidisciplinary team, the successful applicant will be based primarily on Durrant Ward, with the potential for rotational shifts in the Frailty SDEC area. Responsibility for supporting patients admitted to Durrant ward with a range of Frailty related conditions as part of the ward medical team, using the evidence-based framework of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment to formulate diagnoses and manage the identified problems.
You will become confident and proficient at understanding, identifying and managing frailty and the frailty syndromes, and understand why this is so important in a patient group vulnerable to hospital acquired harms.
Strong communication skills will enable you to take a vital role in communicating with patients and carers, MDT members, liaise with other specialties/teams, Primary Care teams and other agencies.
