Family Support & Protection (FS&P)

Family Support and Protection work with families that have long-term complex issues. We're talking about where there's a need for more than three months' intervention, and where children are subject to child protection or child-in-need plans, or where children can no longer live at home and care proceedings need to be initiated.

The Senior Practitioner manages a complex caseload and provides expert supervision and coaching for colleagues, to achieve positive change for children, young people and families. The role deputises for the Team Manager, leading the team and management of duty services.

The role requires an experienced social work practitioner, able to manage higher levels of risk, mentor and advise staff, manage performance and deliver improvements. Building strong working relationships with key partners and stakeholders is essential.

Accountabilities

• Responsible for providing a source of expert advice and professional supervision for social workers and contributing to the development of practice standards.
• Accountable for assessment of complex social care needs and development of support for vulnerable people, children and families.
• Accountable for working within the statutory legal framework, policy and guidance and determining when the threshold for statutory intervention has been reached.

The Experience You Will Bring

• A recognised social work qualification i.e. Diploma, degree or Masters in social work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent, with current Social Work England (SWE) registration.
• Evidence of continuing professional development, aligned to any relevant Professional Competency/Capability frameworks or Knowledge and Skills Statements.
• Significant experience of social work, demonstrating a comprehensive and up to date understanding of all relevant legislation, regulation and guidance.
• Experience of mentoring both Social Work students and newly qualified and experienced Social Work staff, being a subject matter expert in professional social work practice.
• Experience of chairing meetings involving clients, family members and/or carers and other multi-agency professionals.
• Developing strong relationships with partners, other agencies and the local community to achieve joint objectives and offer a supportive framework for children, young people and families.
• In depth understanding of delivery of value for money interventions balanced against need.
• Proven track record of clear decision making in order to highlight and limit the potential risks associated with intervention.

As our Deputy Manager, you will assist in managing operations within the home in order to reach or exceed goals while assuring the provision of high-quality care. You will be in charge of overseeing the care staff and will be expected to assume full management in the event that the Home Manager is not present.

Through direct instruction and by setting a good example, you will assist in training and supervising care staff in all facets of their work. You will help the Home Manager with pre-admission assessments of residents, ensure that each resident's care plan and daily records are kept up to date, and foster effective communication with the residents' families and other organisations.

This role could be for you if you have;

- Previous Deputy Home Manager experience.
- The ability to engage with the service users to understand their needs in order to provide excellent services of care.
- Good working knowledge of CQC standards.
- The ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with external care professionals, families, visitors and staffing team.
- Ability to promote ownership of care programs by fully involving service users and their families in developing, agreeing and evaluating care programs within the home.

Supervising Social Worker - Orange Grove

Contract type: Full-Time

Salary: Up to £37,000 (dependent on experience)

Contract term: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Essex, as a standard caseload, will be no more than 1 hour's drive (but flexibility will be required on occasion as part of team working)

The Role

Orange Grove Fostercare Southern Counties registration covers the whole of the South, London, and Essex area. We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Social Worker who is enthusiastic, committed, and has an appreciation of the role of the foster parent and their skills. We ask our Social Workers to take a collaborative approach with foster parents in order to promote meaningful and relevant supervision of placements. To have experience of working with foster parents as professional colleagues and working within a multi-discipline arena is essential, as is holding a full driving licence, being a confident driver, willing and able to travel across Hampshire and surrounding areas, with unrestricted access to your own car.

This is a demanding position that includes both a quality assurance role to maintain high standards and a training role for prospective and current foster parents. You will be an excellent report writer and able to work to strict deadlines.

You will be involved in the recruitment, training, and supervision of Foster Parents and promoting the welfare of children placed with Orange Grove Fostercare.

Requirements

• Hold a Social Care England recognised qualification in Social Work or equivalent
• Ideally previous experience of family placement work and foster care practice including the assessment of potential foster parents however, for the right candidate training and development is provided.
• A comprehensive working knowledge of all fostering regulations, child care law, and safeguarding legislation
• Excellent communication skills
• A commitment to high-quality practice
• Intermediate IT skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and databases
• Full driving licence with unrestricted access to your own car

Responsibilities

• Direct support of foster parents within a realistic caseload which enables a high level of supervision
• Provide regular supervision to allocated foster parents, enabling and monitoring their practice and ensuring their compliance with regulatory standards
• To work in partnership with children, young people and foster parents and other professionals, local authorities, and stakeholders, enabling full participation in assessment, planning, review, and decision making relating to safeguarding and child protection Have a full driving licence and unrestricted access to your own vehicle
• Be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check (cost will be met by Orange Grove Fostercare)
