The Science department are seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher with an infectious passion for their subject to join their high-performing, friendly and dedicated team. The Opportunity

The role is primarily to deliver across our T-Level Science and BTEC Applied Science courses. However, there may be future opportunities to teach on other Science qualifications also offered at the JWC such as A-level and GCSE Combined Science.

In 2021 as part of the launch of our Science T level a state-of-the-art laboratory and digital workshop was constructed at the Joseph Wright Centre allowing students to make use of the latest industry equipment and encourage employers to have a greater role in the classroom.



About you

You will deliver inspiring and effective teaching, learning and assessment to enable students to make excellent progress. A relevant degree is essential, and applicants must already have a recognised teaching level 5/6 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd).

The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced aviation engineer to join a vibrant team providing an outstanding learning experience, through the delivery of engaging teaching, learning and assessment, which prepares our apprentices for the next stage in their career. The team you’ll be joining is energetic and diverse, with colleagues ranging from recent graduates to those with over 35 years’ experience within the Engineering industry to those who have been teaching with us for less than a year.
You’ll be working with Rolls Royce apprentices ranging from 16 to 18 years old and adult apprentices on a variety of courses including the Aerospace Engineering and Machining apprenticeship standard. You will be predominantly working in a classroom environment supporting apprentices with their knowledge, skills and behaviours, and completion of their portfolio of evidence.
Through the delivery of engaging teaching, learning and assessment, you will ensure they gain an in depth understanding of subjects such as;
• AMEDK3-005: Mechanical Principles of Engineering Systems
• AME3/012: Advanced Manufacturing Techniques
• AME3/017: Mechanical Engineering Principles
• BTEC Unit 7: Engineering Principles
You’ll have industry experience within the Engineering sector and a degree or HNC/D in the subject. We are looking for someone with great interpersonal skills, and a desire to share their knowledge and experience with the next generation of aviation engineers.

About you

You’ll be fully confident with the necessary Adobe Creative Cloud’s suite of products, including After Effects and Illustrator along with other specialist software such as Figma and Blender. About you

Excellent administration and interpersonal skills together with a commitment to working effectively as part of a team are also essential in this role.
