Applications are invited for a clinical research fellow post, which offers an opportunity to undertake high quality translational clinical research in cardiac electrophysiology and devices linked primarily to AF ablation. The main project will assess the efficacy and effectiveness of high-power, short-duration approach in radiofrequency ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF). The post will also include other AF research projects.

This is a 12 month fixed term post with the potential for an extension for a further 12 months.

It is anticipated that the fellow will work under the direct supervision of consultant cardiac electrophysiologists in the department with direct supervision of Dr Hao Chin.

The applicant will be encouraged to develop towards an MD/PhD thesis. In addition, the post-holder will gain experience in the management of patients with complex arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation and cardiac devices.

The post is based within the Department of Cardiology at Glenfield Hospital and is intended to provide comprehensive training in invasive and non-invasive arrhythmia management for individuals intending to pursue a career as a cardiac electrophysiologist. Applicants are expected to have had substantial training in general cardiology and be in possession of an NTN or equivalent. In addition, applicants are expected to have a sound base of experience in device therapy for brady and tachycardia treatments. In addition basic experience in diagnostic electrophysiology is required and a clear interest and motivation to develop high-level electrophysiology and/or devices skills/experience. Successful candidates will also be encouraged to participate in research activities of the department during their fellowship, as there is good access of established academic support and expertise.

The fellow will be expected to participate in 1- 2 outpatient clinics / week within the electrophysiology service and attendance at 2-3 electrophysiology or devices lists a week is anticipated where training will be given in cardiac devices and EP with focus on AF ablations

It is anticipated that the fellow will work under the direct supervision of consultant cardiac electrophysiologists in the department with direct supervision of Dr Hao Chin. Working and training with other EP and devices consultants will be accessible.

It is expected that the successful applicant will be exposed to some to EP interventions as well as comprehensive management of patients with arrhythmic conditions in out-patient and in-patient settings. The majority of the week will be spent in research activity. There will be no regular ward commitment. The fellow will be expect to do 1- 2 out-patient clinics per week. The opportunity to join the registrar on-call rota may be available, but is not mandatory. There is ample opportunity to participate in the management of arrhythmia patients at device clinics and whilst this is not the focus of the fellowship, access is available to invasive electrophysiology activities.

• To assist with the acquisition and distribution of relevant trial documentation.

The Hope Cancer Trials centre research team are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills who is resourceful, organised and a flexible team player with an eye for detail.

This post holder will support our portfolio of haematology and oncology studies. Ideally you will have a good understanding of the principles of clinical research. The role will involve acquiring and maintaining an in depth
knowledge of trial protocols, research methodologies and the
requirements of local, national and international research
regulation to provide, safe ethical practice.
To develop and maintain constructive working relationship with the
multi-professional teams within the service. Be a facilitator for
good communication within the service. Actively participate in local
and national networking groups to develop an expert level of
knowledge.

Clinical Practice:
The research Nurse will:
· Have an understanding of the application of ICH GCP
Guidelines, the EU Directive on Clinical Research and
Research Governance.
· Identify patients suitable for entry into clinical trials and
research studies. This may include attending clinics and
multidisciplinary team meetings, reviewing medical notes
and inclusion/exclusion criteria.
· Ensure patients / carers are provided with written
information relevant to the research study and are given
the opportunity to discuss the research study or clinical trial
adequately at the outset and during the course of the
research or clinical trial in which they are being asked to
participate (i.e. informed consent).
· Attend and support patients in the clinical environment for
monitoring, assessment and follow up as part of research
projects.

Where appropriate, take consent from
patients/participants to enter research studies.
· Take relevant patient samples for clinical trials; such as
blood samples, to centrifuge and separate serum, package
and dispatch as per defined protocols, where appropriate.
· Observe patients and monitor treatment toxicity/side
effects; escalating findings accordingly.

The Research Nurse will be responsible for the
coordination and support given to researchers in order to complete
research Capacity and Capability assessments in order to obtain
R&I Authorisation for research studies they wish to conduct.
Keeping abreast of legislation, the post-holder will also be
responsible for implementing national best practice research
management processes within the Trust. They will be responsible
for ensuring that local integration of systems and processes are
achieved so that individuals can benefit fully from this in a
streamlined manner.
The Research Nurse will be responsible for
identifying and addressing Trust specific feasibility issues and
ensuring that studies are reviewed, set up and submitted for R&I
authorisation in a timely manner and resourced appropriately.
The post-holder will be the day to day point of contact for
investigators and will be responsible for providing advice and
support ensuring that they have full access to the range of the
high quality research management functions in order to secure
successful completion.
The post holder should be adaptable, flexible and show initiative.
In addition they need to show good communication skills, be able
to liaise with all levels of staff, demonstrate good organisational

It is anticipated that the successful candidates will work the equivalent of 2 days per week at the University primarily supporting the theoretical and practical education of students studying at the University of Leicester, according to individual areas of knowledge and expertise.

To enable this role to compliment roles in clinical practice (where 12-hour shifts are worked) the 2 days per week will be worked flexibly across the calendar month.

We are seeking a motivated midwife who is interested in educating and supporting our future midwives, assisting in delivering the four-year MSci Midwifery programme, sharing fundamental midwifery knowledge and skills with students.

The ED in Leicester is inviting applications for Medical Education Fellows from highly motivated higher specialty Emergency Medicine trainees with a desire to influence the delivery of Medical Education. We have adult and paediatric positions available, this fixed one-year position has a 70% Medical Education 30% clinical split throughout the year.

Leicester Emergency Department is the home of EM3.org.uk (#EM3) and has a forward thinking multi-modality, multi-disciplinary approach to Emergency Medicine Education. The Education fellows hold pivotal roles within the ED’s multi-disciplinary education team and are involved in all aspects of the Department’s Education strategy. These include: simulation (in-situ and simulation suite), shop floor teaching, CBD clinics virtual learning, FOAMED, FOANED, practical skills, induction, regional and local teaching programmes and much more.
