We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Head of Learning to join our team at Columbus School and College.
You will play a key role in leading and shaping the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment across our school, ensuring every learner has access to exceptional education.
- We serve pupils aged 3 to 19 with severe and profound learning difficulties, many of whom have autism.
- Spread across two campuses, we provide an exceptional learning environment designed to support pupils with special needs.
- Our broad, ambitious curriculum is crafted to prepare learners for the future, with a strong focus on communication, interaction, cognition, sensory and physical health, emotional well-being, and independence.
- Each pupil's personalised curriculum is developed in close collaboration with parents, carers, and relevant professionals, ensuring it aligns with their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).
- We aim to inspire a love for learning, motivate pupils to overcome challenges, and prepare them thoroughly for the next stage in their lives.

- Pay Scale: MPR + TLR1
- Hours: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in SEN teaching, ideally within a specialist setting, with a strong understanding of the current SEN Code of Practice.
You will demonstrate a commitment to promoting an inclusive school ethos, collaborating effectively with staff, carers, and external agencies to deliver outstanding education.
You will be responsible for:
- Developing and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Building strong, collaborative relationships with parents and carers.
- Leading a team of Heads of Learning to drive improvements in teaching and learning.
