PURPOSE OF JOB

•To act as Cover Supervisor, covering/supervising whole classes during the short-termabsence of teachers.

•To work with withdrawal and small groups to provide support and intervention.

•To lead a team of Assistant Teachers as required.

•To work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist teachers in the whole planningcycle and the management/preparation of resources.

•To complement teachers’ delivery of the national curriculum and contribute to thedevelopment of other support staff, pupils and Academy policies and strategies.

•To provide support for pupils, the teacher and the Academy in order to raise standardsof achievement for all pupils (e.g. additional SEN, EAL, GT, FSM, underachievers), byutilising advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning,monitoring, assessing and managing classes.

•To encourage pupils to become independent learners, to provide support for theirwelfare, and to support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life.

Job Title: Children Senior Support Worker

Base Salary: £ 26,520.00

Location: Derby

Social Care & Education is looking for an experienced Senior Support Worker who is a cheerful, patient, and compassionate individual to join a friendly team. You will be responsible for providing day to day care for young adults, supporting them in daily activities. You must be willing to work as part of a team and have experience in managing staff in a children’s home setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality support to young adults, focusing on their physical, psychological, emotional, and recreational development.
Ensure young people are attending full-time education.
To ensure that the home has the right ratio of staffing for the service.
Establish positive and trusting relationships with the young people to make them feel safe.
Assist young adults in preparing for independent living and support them in daily life.
Aid with personal care when necessary.
Accompany young adults in the community and support them with everyday tasks.
Assist with financial matters such as bill payments.
Help with cooking and cleaning as needed.
Support young adults transitioning out of care.
Be proactive and address any safeguarding concerns.
Adhere to all policies and procedures.
To identify and implement boundaries when needed.
Managing a team
Requirements:

Experience working with young adults aged 12 to 17 years old, including those with challenging behaviour and mental health needs.
Experience of shift leading and supervising staff
Complete LAC reports and attend external meetings.
NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People (desirable)
Safeguarding Children Certificate.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting young individuals, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a good understanding of emotional, mental health, and behavioural issues

As a Senior Children’s Support Worker, your main duties will be to:

Provide high-quality care and support to children in a residential setting.
Ensure the physical, emotional, and social well-being of each child.
Work collaboratively with a team of support workers to create a positive and nurturing environment.
Implement care plans and risk assessments tailored to individual needs.
Foster positive relationships with children, families, and external agencies.
Actively participate in team meetings and training sessions.
To be a Team Leader, we require you to have:

Level 3 qualification in Caring for Children and Young People or equivalent.
Experince working with young adults who have challenging behaviours
Experience of Shift leading
Experience of supervising care staff.
Completing LAC reports and attending external meetings
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.
Must possess a valid driving license and be able to drive a manual vehicle.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A compassionate and caring nature with a genuine desire to make a difference.
Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and evenings as required.
