Position: Teacher of English
Location: Cranborne, Dorset
Salary: £30,000.00 - £45,00.00
Hours: 40 hours per week, Term Time Only

Main Purpose of the Role:
As a Teacher of English, you will provide high-quality teaching and learning to young people with social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders, and mental health needs. You will focus on increasing academic and vocational qualifications and knowledge while helping students achieve independent living skills. The ability to teach these subjects up to GCSE level is essential.
Key Duties:
- Develop and deliver the curriculum, considering the educational, physical, and social needs of the students.
- Collaborate with other staff members as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Utilise short-, medium-, and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.
- Set, monitor, and review personalised targets to optimise learning for each student.
- Participate in the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews.
- Structure lessons to maintain pace, motivation, and challenge.
- Assist in developing the curriculum offer and stay updated on current issues in the field of autism.
- Manage a delegated budget as required.
- Be flexible and ready to lend a hand wherever needed.
Successful Candidate Qualities:
Essential:
- PGCE, QTS/QTLS, or equivalent Level 5 teaching qualification with evidence of in-service training.
- Ability to teach English to GCSE.
Desirable:
- Experience in a school environment, ideally in specialist education.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Effective planning, preparation, recording, and review skills for students' progress.
- Good IT skills and an understanding of how IT can support learning.
- Ability to remain calm and reflective in a challenging environment.
- Proven ability to work independently, organise effectively, prioritise, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to engage students in positive, enabling relationships.
