Responsibilities
The role involves managing the entire physical cargo delivery process, both pre- and post-shipment. This includes verifying and inputting trader recaps and preliminary shipment details into the company’s trading system. The pre-shipment responsibilities encompass preparing, negotiating, and executing trade contracts, Letters of Credit, shipping instructions, and surveyor nominations, as well as handling the full set of shipping documentation. During the delivery phase, the role requires liaising with internal and external stakeholders to address issues, communicate instructions, monitor shipments, and carry out assigned tasks. Post-shipment duties involve consolidating shipment details for final or provisional price confirmation, invoicing, demurrage assessment, cost actualization, negotiating L/C documentation, and updating the trading system. The position requires seamless coordination between the operations team and other departments (Commercial, Risk, Shipping, Finance, and Accounts), ensuring adherence to internal procedures and efficient execution with external trading counterparties and affiliated offices. Additionally, the role includes assisting with any ad-hoc projects or tasks assigned by the company.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of experience in physical cargo operations related to middle distillates or light ends, with a strong understanding of Incoterms and their implications. They should have an expertise in operational processes, including pre- and post-shipment activities such as Contracts, Trade Finance, Shipping, and Demurrage, as well as knowledge of Port, Terminal, Storage, Agency, Ship, and Inspection operations. The candidate must be capable of independently managing daily operations and be an effective team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong planning, organizational, and coordination abilities are essential, along with numerical and analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities. Proficiency in both English and Chinese is required to communicate with key stakeholders, and the candidate should thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, demonstrating self-motivation and discipline.
