You will: 

• Prepare or review permits (issuance, reissuance, and modification) for extremely complex or critical treatment, storage and disposal facilities or sources.
• Provide authoritative technical advice and support to state, local or tribal agencies regarding technical and/or scientific criteria and methods; implementation of pollution control requirements; and impacts of pollutants.
• Resolve critical, politically sensitive, and highly complex issues related to permit requirements and defend permits against legal challenges, along with Office of Regional Counsel (ORC).
• Respond to permit inquiries as an agency spokesperson.

You will:

• Conduct inspections and investigations of regulated facilities for compliance with applicable regulations, permits, or other federal requirements.
• Provide technical advice and information on significant analytical methods, sampling techniques, etc., related to specific program areas, functions, or activities.
• Serve as a technical expert in the development, negotiation, and litigation of both civil and criminal enforcement matters.
• Plan, conduct and provide regulatory technical assistance on complex field sampling and analytical services, facility inspections and audits.
• Provide assistance to customers on the technical aspects of EPA laws and regulations.

You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.
