Overview:
Our Defence client is looking for Software Developers responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications using .NET Core Version 7, PowerCLI, PowerShell, and the Atlassian toolset. This role involves building robust and scalable solutions that meet business requirements and adhere to best practices. The Software Developer plays a vital role in the development and maintenance of software systems, with a focus on WINTEL and LINUX platforms and general software frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:
Application Development: Design, develop, and enhance software applications using .NET Core PowerCLI, and PowerShell. Create scalable and maintainable code that meets business requirements and follows coding standards.
Backend Development: Build efficient and optimized backend systems, including data storage, retrieval, and processing. Develop APIs, services, and integrations to support application functionality.
Automation and Scripting: Utilize PowerCLI and PowerShell to automate tasks, streamline processes, and improve efficiency. Develop scripts for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment automation.
WINTEL and LINUX Platform Knowledge: Apply WINTEL and LINUX platform knowledge to develop software applications that run seamlessly on both environments. Ensure compatibility, performance, and security across different platforms.
Atlassian Toolset Integration: Integrate software development processes with the Atlassian toolset, including Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo. Utilize these tools for collaboration, version control, issue tracking, and release management.
Testing and Debugging: Conduct thorough testing of software applications to ensure functionality, performance, and stability. Debug and resolve issues, working closely with cross-functional teams to identify and implement effective solutions.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and API documentation. Share knowledge and provide training to internal teams on software development practices and frameworks.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest technologies, frameworks, and industry trends. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance software development processes, tools, and methodologies.

Essential skills, qualifications, and experience
In order to deliver this service, it is essential that individuals have:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Powershell and .NET Core Version 7.
• Experience with PowerCLI and PowerShell scripting for automation and system administration tasks.
• Familiarity with the Atlassian toolset, including Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo.
• General working knowledge of WINTEL and LINUX platforms.
• Understanding of software development principles, object-oriented programming, and software frameworks.
• Solid problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
• Hold a valid Security Clearance (SC)
• Competency in MS Office Suite

Desirable skills, qualifications and experience

• General software framework knowledge such as Angular, React, or Vue.js.
• Experience with other scripting languages like Python or Bash.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware or Hyper-V.
• Understanding of cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.

Job Title: Test Engineer
Location: Corsham/Portsmouth
Duration 6-12 months
Rate: Up to £650 per day via an approved umbrella company Inside IR35

The OpNET Test Engineer will be part of a team responsible for the Product Testing, System & System Integration testing, and Live Service testing of the New Style of Information Technology (Deployed) OpNet system.

Reporting directly to the IT&T Test Managers and to the NSoIT(D) Head of Integration Test & Trials, (IT&T) for your deliverables, in order to have OpNet accepted into live service.

Working within an Agile environment, you will be involved in ensuring that the deployed systems are comprehensively tested throughout various testing cycles and test levels, from component level testing through integration and acceptance, leading to monthly testing of patches in the live space, including testing of change through incident & problem management processes.

• Must understand Low level Engineering Design Documentation and formulate a test script from that.
• Quickly integrating into the Testing Team in order to contribute to the overall success of project.
• Formulation and implementation of NSoIT(D) System Integration Testing scripts.
• Executing the scope of testing within the context of each release.
• Reviewing and approving new NSoIT(D) Test Scripts/Scenarios for Core/Hub Services.
• Undertaking formal and informal reviews of the NSoIT(D) test documentation.
• Manage and maintain NSoIT(D) test scripts as defined by the Test Management team.
• Assist with expanding technical test frameworks related to the NSoIT(D) project.
• Ensuring visibility, traceability, and control of testing process to deliver high-quality results.
• Weekly status reporting, including engagement with all major stakeholders at mandated project meetings.
• Presenting and conducting the acceptance trials to the relevant authorities, (NCHQ, MCTA, MCS IA).

Essential Skills:

• Strong Network background - CCNA/CCNP
• End to end' test validation and System Integration testing.
• Exceptional communication and good leadership skills when engaging with diverse and challenging audiences.
• Proven ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
• Strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to respond to changing project time scales and priorities, adjusting workload accordingly.
• SC Clearance as a minimum.

Desirable Skills:

• ISQTB Test certification or equivalent
• Knowledge of, or experience of, military IS systems.
• Experience of Military Information Services such as NATO FAS, UK Base Services and MOD Business management applications.
• Experience of Confluence and Jira. Working within both 'Waterfall' & Agile methodologies would be an advantage.
