This is an exciting opportunity to lead and manage our Civil Contingencies Service (CCS), a shared service under the partnership of East Renfrewshire Council, Inverclyde Council, Renfrewshire Council and West Dunbartonshire Council.

You will provide professional advice to Chief Executives across the Partnership, Elected Members and other Chief Officers as required.

Leading your team, you will facilitate the delivery of high quality statutory civil contingencies and resilience preparations and response across and within the local authorities and health and social care partnerships. You will ensure that key personnel are suitably trained, delivering training, and exercising to employees.

You will manage and participate in, the provision of a 24/7 out of hours duty rota to respond to potential emergency situations across the full geographic area using your experience, expertise, and knowledge to advise senior colleagues.

You will work with relevant national, regional, and local agencies and partners to understand and assess the ongoing and changing nature of risks and threats across the area, liaising with relevant leads in each Council/HSCP in the Partnership to develop and recommend a strategic, tactical, and operational response to these.

You must have a degree or other relevant qualification in civil contingencies, emergency management or resilience field, significant demonstrable experience of developing, influencing and motivating the resilience focus and direction of a large organisation, both strategically and corporately and extensive practical experience in responding to major emergency incidents, with suitable evidence of successful incident management decision making, reputational awareness and co-ordination skills.

You must also have demonstrable experience of Integrated Emergency Management practice and principles and experience of leading and chairing local authority and national groups.

Experience of leading, establishing or promoting major resilience projects, requiring multi-agency and partnership collaboration and a knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act (2004) and “Preparing Scotland” resilience agenda are essential.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with an appetite for challenges who can think creatively, and problem solve in real-time. You can engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and influence and inspire confidence in others while working under pressure.

It is essential you have IT skills and effective written and oral communications skills with the ability to converse with, and advise, a wide range of stakeholders.
A full UK driving licence is essential. Experience of working at tactical and strategic levels within an organisation and with the emergency services and other response agencies is desirable.

Renfrewshire Councils, Building Services is looking to recruit Gas Engineers to undertake gas work including repairs, modifications, replacement of gas elements in housing and public buildings.

All trade persons should have served a full trade apprenticeship to SVQ level 3 or equivalent and have experience of property maintenance in either, Housing, Schools or Public Buildings. You will have knowledge of all aspects of domestic or commercial gas work.

You will have effective communication skills and be able to communicate at all levels. In addition, you will Ability to work to set targets and deadlines and the ability to understand and work to risk assessments and method statements. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative, as part of a team and with a wide range of people. You will be able to adjust to changes in work demands at short notice and be flexible and able to facilitate fluctuating workload.

You must be willing to participate in flexible work patterns, out of hours emergency rota and undertake associated work in other trade skills by multi skilling.

As part of the ICT Systems team you will provide 3rd level ICT support, administration and development of our ICT environment. This is a varied and exciting role, with plenty of space to grow and develop. You’ll need attention to detail , a can-do attitude and be able to work well within a team environment. You’ll need to be confident, approachable and understand the importance of maintaining high standards, have great communication and engagement skills and have an enthusiasm for learning.

You should have a relevant degree and/or be able to demonstrate significant relevant experience in this area.

As an ICT Systems engineer you will require experience of the following areas:

• Practical experience of infrastructure and application technologies including implementation, administration, upgrades and support

• Differing ICT delivery models (e.g. On premise, IaaS, SaaS) and integration between them
• Windows and Linux server operating systems

Currently we are looking to supplement the skill set of our team with a candidate ideally having some of the following additional areas of expertise:

• Administration and support of the Microsoft 365 E5 Product & Security suite
• Azure services (e.g. Entra ID, Enterprise Applications)
• Server virtualisation (e.g. Microsoft Hyper-V)

You will be a Qualified Time-served Mechanic as recognised by an Industry Board and will be based at our Underwood Road Depot where you will work on all Renfrewshire Council’s transport fleet.

The role is to undertake all aspects of servicing, testing, overhauls, repairs, planned maintenance and enhancements to a comprehensive range of vehicles, plant and equipment used by Fleet Operations / Community Services, other Council Services, and other clients, ensuring that all such works are carried out in a manner that positively contributes to a high quality, responsive and cost-effective service which meets Service and customer expectations.

You must have experience of servicing, maintenance, and repairs to a range of heavy goods, industrial and other vehicles, e.g., trucks, tippers, vans, cars, buses, tractors, trailers, refuse collection vehicles, container trucks, snow ploughs and gritting vehicles.

Knowledge of DVSA’s guide to roadworthiness and specification of defects for maintenance and MOT preparation and knowledge of Transport and DVSA / DVLA procedure and standards along with knowledge of operating diagnostic tools is essential as is Health and Safety Awareness and understanding to the appropriate role and vehicle repairs is essential.

It is also essential you have experience preparing vehicles to DVSA MOT testing standards in accordance with regulatory and other approved specification and requirements.

You will be able to work on your own with minimum supervision. Road test and diagnose vehicle faults under normal operating conditions. Carry out all assigned work to a high standard of workmanship, practice and customer care.

As well as carry out and provide advice and instruction on service, maintenance work and repairs for an extensive range of vehicles and / or associated equipment.

Prioritise work and meet deadlines and respond positively when under pressure.

This role will require you to be part of a standby rota. Employees are expected to be available for work outside of their regular hours, sometimes at short notice.

It is essential you have a City & Guilds Certificate as well as a LGV licence, a category C and a driving license category CE is desirable.
