Position: Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace Stress)

Location: Derby, UK (may need to travel across client’s sites throughout UK)

Salary: £40,000 - £48,000

Type: Permanent (minimum 40 hours per week)

Job Description
Stress Man Limited are currently seeking a highly experienced, resourceful, and delivery-focused Aerospace Stress Engineer to support our growing customer base.
Engineer must have gas turbine experience, and be familiar with 2D and 3D stress analysis, in particular, gas turbine rotating parts (discs, blisk, shafts, seals, airfoils) using the latest in modeling techniques, such as friction at interfaces, and elastic/plastic. Engineer must be proficient in ANSYS Mechanical APDL, Abaqus, Hypermesh, UG NX, NX-Nastran, and Python scripting. Prior experience with life analysis (fatigue, damage tolerance, and fracture mechanics) is preferred.

The engineer must be capable of performing the following stress analysis tasks:

• Ownership of stress analysis of assigned components.
• Collaborate with support functions as needed (stress analysis, life management, heat transfer, materials, design).
• Ensure assigned components meet all technical and functional requirements.
• Generate and deliver technical/program presentations to internal and external customers as required (systems tech review, design review, and internal analysis review).
• Write Design Study Summaries (Design Definition Records), Technical Memorandums, Coordination Memos, and Certification Reports as required to document design engineering activity on assigned components.

Other Duties:-You will be required to perform duties at our offices and also at any of the projects undertaken by our offices at any of our client sites. You will be reporting to your line manager for all your tasks mentioned above.

Job Description
Stress Man Limited are currently seeking a highly experienced, resourceful, and delivery-focused Aerospace Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to support our growing customer base.

As a Lead engineer, you'll possess 10-15 years experience within aerospace gas turbine design. Must be capable of executing design and development projects, providing technical guidance and oversight, ensuring compliance with aerospace industry standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams for requirements capture and execution. Preferably have experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.

You should have demonstrable experience in gas turbine low-pressure compressor design and analysis, including:

Design and modification of key aero-engine two-spool low-pressure compressor components such as discs, stators, aerofoils, seals, and attaching parts.

Preparation of certification reports, design record books, and definition solutions, accounting for layouts, clash checks, materials, weights, and tolerances.

Execution of design projects within cross-functional teams.

Conducting design trade studies, iterating existing architectures to achieve design improvements and incremental gains in performance, materials, weight, cost, and aerodynamic and thermal properties across the compressor and turbine.
