• Co-owner of our steerage model, ensuring repair vs total loss decisions are based on the best indemnity and customer outcomes
  
• Contributing and executing an engineering strategy which delivers engineering services at the lowest appropriate and class-leading cost
  
• Using data to enable fast and effective decision making for the whole team to drive change, identifying and mitigating risks associated with all changes and recommendations
  
• Building key stakeholder relationships to allow the smooth implementation of change as quickly and effectively as possible
  
• Continuously striving to conduct as much engineering as possible internally, whilst managing the performance and costs of external engineering suppliers
  
• Leading a re-rating of our know your opponent intelligence - working with claims colleagues to ensure that any KYO strategy lands
  
  
  

Skills we would love you to have

• Knowledge & experience of the UK Motor repair market, including a good understanding of claims and risk management principles and practices
  
• A technical understanding in the principles of motor body repair methods and knowledge of motor insurance/subrogation
  
• Strong commercial acumen (especially around cost mitigation) and comfortable with innovation and disruption, whilst evolving current practices

Day to day, you'll lead the planning and management of multi discipline projects involving the coordination and integration of multi discipline tasks. This role leads the engineering team to deliver technical solutions to budget, targets, and estimating the engineering scope for Projects from concept design to full Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC).

• Effective management of multi discipline teams to ensure timely & efficient delivery of engineering work to meet customer agreed scope.
• Promote effective co-operation across Engineering and other functional teams.
• Ensure effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers,to aid the development of business, resolution of technical and delivery issues, and such that the customer is fully briefed and informed of progress.
• Technical management of the engineering output to ensure delivery of technical solutions in line with agreed technical scope.
• Ensure application of highest standards for health and safety in immediate area of responsibility and ensure all team members across engineering co-operate with respect tocompany standards about matters on health, safety and environment, ethics and behaviours.
• Manage resource demands and development of capability skills to match needs of future workload and coach and mentor members of the team.
• Ensure project and technical audits and review are planned & executed in order to impart learning and experience as appropriate and in line with agreed standards.
• Maintain knowledge of Industry best practice, promote a culture of Engineering best practice and provide leadership and assist in driving cultural development and change.

Essential experience of the Engineering Manager:

• Demonstrable management experience, including experience in managing multi discipline teams to deliver analysis activities on a range of project types
• Excellent communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines

The role is on a full time, permanent basis (37 hours per week) and includes hybrid / flexible working.

Qualifications for the Engineering Manager:

Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline with significant demonstrable experience

The successful candidate must be able to achieve base line security clearance level for this role.
