Your new role

Your new role

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you will hold a degree/HND/HNC in Civil Engineering (or experience equivalent) and ideally have at least 2 years' experience setting out groundworks, drainage and/or RC works. In addition, you will hold a CSCS card, full UK driving licence and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Finally, you will have excellent attention to detail and be able to communicate effectively with a range of other professionals including clients, construction managers and other engineers.

The Role:
As the Component Design Engineer you will be responsible for the on-time delivery and quality of component design definition artefacts against programme milestones i.e. documents, models, definitions that meet sub-system / part level requirements. You will participate within an IPT described and operate in accordance with the clients Management System policies and processes. * Carry out analyses using formula-based calculations and/or automated workflows for dimensioning of parts and components (e.g. stability, stiffness, profiles, balance point, weights) and where appropriate, using analytical rules, tools and methods to underwrite the design solution against requirements.
* Create technical documents to comply with process, knowledge management, information and data policies.
* Plan, manage and execute external designs via orders placed at design service providers or suppliers with design and production authorisation for complete devices (Design only / Design and Make Package) leading to approval of the designs and all documents.
* Manage product configuration and assure data integrity.
* Execute sub-system integration process including the appropriate use of Systems Engineering and Robust Design tools to ensure that the technical attributes of the Sub-system design meet the agreed requirements.
* Good understanding of NX toolset for modelling and drawing creation linked with strong GD&T understanding.
* Good technical knowledge in mechanical design methodologies and understands cross discipline engineering concepts which include but are not limited to manufacturing engineering, mechanical analysis, cost engineering and product definition.
* An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and make balanced decisions across technical and business parameters.

About the Client:

Our client are specialists in timber frame with a strong track record in housing and they are working along side prestigious, well known new build developers in the UK. They manufacture complete structural platform frames, roof and floor cassettes.

Job overview:

To maintain plant and machinery in the highest order to ensure availability of plant to the production team at all times. You must be able and willing to work flexibly to suit the needs and demands of the role. This may involve working different hours/days to accommodate shift working and potentially travel away from home if required to visit alternatives factory sites.

Responsibilities:

• Support the project delivery team in the commissioning of the new machinery.
• Develop robust maintenance plans in line with the manufacturer’s specification
• Conduct inspections of the plant equipment to identify and resolve issues
• Check electrical and mechanical systems of machinery to ensure functionality
• Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities
• Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary
• Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities
• Ensure health and safety policies are always complied with

Professional Qualifications:

• HND or equivalent in mechanical/electrical engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years’ practical experience

Essential

• Proven relevant experience as a maintenance engineer
• Solid understanding of technical aspects of mechanical and electrical systems
• Able to read schematics
• Good knowledge and understanding of H&S legislation and procedures
• Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Advanced trouble shooting skills
• Has a good Knowledge and understanding manufacturing machinery such as CNC machines and saws, with the ability to use skill and experience in problem solving to work things out and apply them to real situations
