Our engineering specialist client based in Merseyside is currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team.

This is a full time, permanent role based in Liverpool, offering between £45,000 - £55,000 for the right person.

The purpose of the role is to manage projects and to deal with all technical and construction issues relating to the Mechanical installation. You would also be required to attend monthly design meetings, assess contractor valuations, carry out site inspections, witness test installations and issue snagging reports.

You will have the ability to take a project from conception through to completion using prepared client brief documents as well as the ability to produce proposal documents. You should be able to convert this information into a working set of Mechanical drawings and Mechanical specifications both for tender and construction.

Candidates will be expected to:

• Have up to 8 years experience within an M&E Consulting environment.
• Be HNC or degree qualified. Chartered or working towards chartership.
• Have working knowledge of Autocad/Revit and IES.
• Lead schemes from inception through to completion and work to deadlines.
• Be capable of producing high quality Mechanical Services Design.
• Be a strong team player, who takes pride in their work and wants to progress their career.
• Help with the development of younger members of staff.

You must be competent and experienced in designing the following systems:

• Heating installations.
• Air Conditioning.
• Mechanical Ventilation.
• VRV/VRF Installations.
• Water Services.
• Soils & Wastes.

Your new role
Your role as a Principal Structural Engineer will involve a combination of structural surveys and design work. Your role will involve site inspections to diagnose defects, preparing reports, scheduling remedial works, producing design drawings and specifications for tender.

Following Labour's recent budget announcement, there will be vast amounts of funding assigned to RAAC inspections and other publicly owned building inspections, which you will deal with. This includes education buildings, healthcare, social and high-rise housing and various other commercial and nuclear facilities. There will also be an opportunity to get involved with the design of new and existing buildings across similar sectors.

Day-to-day team management, client liaison, fee proposals, invoicing and work generation (new or existing) will also all be expected.

What you'll need to succeed

• Ability to evidence broad and proven structural design experience in core materials: concrete, steel, masonry and timber
• Ability to evidence a breadth of UK based structural design and investigation experience
• Excellent communication skills, in both written and spoken English
• MIStructE / MICE Chartered membership is preferred, but is not essential for the right candidate with strong evidence and a proven track record
• A desire to progress within a forward-thinking structural team, to assist with the running of the team and to directly contribute to the teams planned growth

Rolling Stock Maintenance Team Members

Rullion has an excellent opportunity for three highly skilled dual-skilled fitters with Level 3 qualifications and electrical proficiency. This ongoing contract is with a leading rolling stock company based at their depot in the northwest.

Shift Pattern:
37/44 hours per week (Averaged over a period dependent on weekly shift pattern)
Days and nights shift rotation

Start Date:
2nd December 2024

Duration:
Ongoing contract, initially for 6 months

Rates:
First 12 weeks:
- PAYE: £24.20 per hour
- Umbrella:£30.27 per hour

Post 12 weeks:
- PAYE: £27.47 per hour
- Umbrella: £36.32 per hour

Please be aware that this position is subject to IR35 regulations, which means that we do not engage with Limited Companies for this role.

Background Requirements:
While prior experience in Rolling Stock is preferred, it is not mandatory. However, having a background in Aerospace, REME (Engineering in the Armed Forces), HGV/Buses, or operating large vehicles is essential.

Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering (or an equivalent recognised qualification) to meet the specified criteria. Additionally, a strong knowledge of Microsoft applications is required.

Job Description:
Reporting directly to the Production Manager, your primary responsibilities will encompass servicing, maintaining, and repairing of HVAC units on high profile rolling stock fleet. As an integral member of the team, you will ensure that traction and rolling stock are serviced and maintained in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, with a continuous emphasis on enhancing quality.

Please note that our client maintains a rigorous zero-tolerance Drug and Alcohol Policy. Be prepared for a Drug and Alcohol test, which may occur either during the interview process or on your first day of employment.
