As our Project Engineer, you will be part of small projects team to lead and manage the delivery of CAPEX, manufacturing process and site facilities improvement projects.

Actively participate to identify improvement opportunities in your own personal and business development plans.

Provide project tracker reports and KPIs to monitor performance, including the identification of risks and proposing options to manage them.
Ensure that all assets acquired or constructed during the project, are adequately capitalized and activated into the company fixed assets list.
Participate and take ownership where required in the areas of SIGO (Health and Safety management system), LPS (Loss Prevention System), Quality and Controls.




Skills required of our Project Engineer:


University degree or equivalent
Experience managing projects in a FMCG manufacturing environment (high speed production lines - bulk receipt and blending)
Project management skills, ideally using a Stage-Gate type risk approach
Ability to prepare and manage project specifications
Applied commercial skills, particularly in relation to specifying equipment and service offer purchase order requirements
Excellent written, communication and presentation skills
Good awareness of CAPEX (capital) and OPEX (revenue) budgets

Quality Engineer

In this role, you will monitor, plan, and improve business processes to enhance production output and product quality. You will introduce new processes and procedures, set quality standards, drive continuous improvements, and resolve problems. Additionally, you will collaborate with the team to implement lean methodologies, optimising processes, equipment, and performance. Other responsibilities include creating acceptance test procedures, inspecting materials and products, developing quality control systems, maintaining the calibration system, conducting internal audits, and determining corrective actions.

Qualifications:

Experience:

The ideal candidate will have over 4 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, and QA. Can use problem-solving techniques and effective at presenting data and identifying problem areas through analysis. They can interpret engineering drawings and use required equipment to confirm inaccuracies is essential. Experience working with cross-functional teams is necessary, and experience in manufacturing in a high-value, low-volume setting is desirable.

Knowledge:

Essential knowledge includes the ability to read and understand technical drawings and complete FAIRs. A solid understanding of ISO standards, such as 9001 and/or AS9100, is required. Desirable knowledge includes an understanding of ISO 14001, 27001, and AS9100 standards, as well as lean principles. The ability to use a CMM (Coordinate-measuring machine) is also desirable.

Job Purpose

• You will deliver the engineering activities within their allocated project team to undertake the delivery of Construction requirements relating to the UK Power Networks owned assets and associated infrastructure under the direction of the Construction Manager as part of the Investment Delivery team.

Principal Accountabilities

• Delivery of the Construction programmes for the UK Power Networks owned assets operating at voltages through the range 400V to 132kV
• Work with the Project Managers to ensure that all programmes of work are delivered to time, budget and quality drivers
• Work with Project Supervisors and EHV fitters to ensure the delivery of all electrical engineering activities
• Help manage budgets relating to the construction delivery and meet ongoing goals
• As a team member work to ensure that UK Power Networks goals are achieved especially in Staff engagement and Client satisfaction
• Follow UK Power Networks Operations and Procedures
• Operate HV Distribution Protection Systems
• Test and Commission HV Distribution System
• Maintain the Control and Protection Systems
• Ensure compliance with CDM and UK Power Networks Health and Safety policies
• Develop site specific H,S & E procedures
• Compliance with UK Power Networks quality policies
• Operate and update Asset database in respect of project activities
• Responsible for both reactive and planned construction activities
• Perform fault investigation and repairs
• Modify equipment and drawings to ensure the efficient operation of the substations
• Ensure the compliance with the distribution safety rules during all activities
• Manage all contractors/staff working on site
• Undertake additional activities determined by the job level and competency

Responsibilities:

• Co-ordinate daily construction and maintenance activities with Client / Principal Contractor's ensuring programmes are met
• Obtain quotations from suppliers and raise Purchase Order request with Finance & Governance team
• Change Management - ensure early warning notices are brought to the attention of the Project Manager / Commercial Manager & Partners
• Provide technical support and act as appoint of reference for the Construction team
• When deputising for the Construction Manager deliver team briefings and give feed-back
• Identify potential project risks/opportunities (raise awareness within team/company)
• Proactively seek continuous improvement
• Work unsocial hours to respond to faults on system
• Assist the Construction Manager in the development of the ongoing Asset Portfolio Plan
• Represent UKPN at meetings with clients and contractors
• When undertaking engineering activities manage the team of employees and contractors for the delivery
• When undertaking engineering activities manage the compliance with all H&S procedures such as Putting People to Work and Distribution Safety Rules

Qualifications

Essential:

• Senior Authorised Person as defined by the Distribution Safety Rules - Preferable 132kV or 33kV however training will be provided to achieve this level of authorisation if authorised at 11kV.
• Experience in distribution systems through the range 400v to 132kV
• Educated to a minimum HNC level qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Working knowledge of distribution HV Systems
• Knowledge of Building Services Systems
• Read schematic drawings and understand content
• Work in different environments
• Identify problems, understand main issues and investigate alternatives
• Hold full driving licence
• Use Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, MS Project and other custom software packages

Desirable:

• A broad understanding of UK Power Networks directorates
• Travel around the Capital Programme's SPN portfolio of projects
• Have persuasive negotiating and influencing skills
• Ability to manage time and to meet deadlines
• To be skilful in decision-making
• Relevant Safety Qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH
• Knowledge of Construction Design and Management Regulations

I am currently looking for an experienced Site Engineer to start work in the Dover area, with a contractor who is dealing with a heavy civils project, drainage and highways.
