• Apply scientific theory to chemical processes such as electroplating, chemical cleaning, paint stripping, application of coatings, adhesive bonding of metals, and corrosion control that are used in the repair.
• Research and develop new processes for repair, maintenance, and overhaul of aircraft components. Employs lean/six sigma tools such as failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and design of experiments (DOE) to improve process capability.
• As an authority in the field of chemical engineering and material finishing, will be called upon to provide technical expertise on a wide variety of related issues and provide training.

• Initiate production capability and capacity studies in support of MCA programs and modernization efforts, RDEC (Research Development Engineering Command) and operational divisions that directly support the depot production directorate.
• Plan and coordinate smaller military construction projects concerning the design of production systems based on current and projected workload.
• Plan and conduct detailed engineering studies which establish criteria for use in the evaluation and assessment of specific problem areas; and determines testing techniques, procedures, factors, and control techniques.

• Performs strategic assessments necessary to continue assembly and sustained operations of the International Space Station (ISS), Artemis, Gateway, or the Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP).
