Your new role
They are currently recruiting for a Finance Administrator at a Northampton site. Reporting to the Assistant Finance Manager, this role is crucial for producing accurate management accounts by analysing labour costs and key productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse labour hours and assist Operational Heads with key variances.
• Assist with the preparation and closure of monthly and weekly invoices.
• Raise online Purchase Orders and ad-hoc payment requests.
• Perform weekly statement reconciliations.
• Handle month-end responsibilities, including basic accounting principles.
• Run daily reports to identify trends.
• Deliver accurate and timely financial reports, working with operations to understand variances.
• Develop strong relationships with various stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the Assistant Finance Manager to support growth opportunities.
• Report and monitor key performance indicators.
• Produce ad-hoc reports, costings, and expenditure trend analysis.
• Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal person will be detail-oriented, eager to engage in all finance department tasks, confident in communication, and able to challenge the status quo. Experience in accounts payable maintenance is essential and a background working in the Transport, Logistics, or Warehousing industry would be ideal. The ideal person will demonstrate drive, energy, and a commitment to continuous improvement. They should be proactive, inquisitive, and passionate about challenging teams to enhance performance. The ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards is crucial. Flexibility and a positive response to customer requests are essential. Strong relationship-building skills at all levels and excellent PC skills, with the ability to leverage IT and systems, are required. This role is suitable for someone looking to start or continue their AAT, with an apprenticeship for AAT and beyond offered.

Our client is a growing, profitable business in the construction and maintenance sector with offices in Northamptonshire.

Your new role
Our client issues around 5,000 customer invoices monthly for 6,000 accounts. The Credit Controller handles about a third of these invoices. Responsibilities will include:

• Manage assigned customer accounts and ensure timely collections.
• Develop and maintain excellent customer relationships.
• Reduce DSOs and minimise bad debts to maximise collection performance.
• Develop a close working relationship with the franchise network.
• Produce account reconciliation and maintain customer records and ledger accounts.
• Manage incoming and outgoing calls, logging and resolving customer queries efficiently.
• Undertake administrative duties (e.g., supply statements, copy invoices, credits, applying credit terms, legal recovery).
• Process payment allocation to your ledger in a timely manner.
• Resolve remittance issues with customers.
• Responsible for suspense review and resolving amounts held on suspense.
• Handle aged debt reporting, weekly banking reporting, and weekly bank reconciliation.
• Perform any other reasonable duties within your capabilities.
  
  

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate should have at least two years of experience in Credit Control. Familiarity with MS applications and the MS Dynamics operating system is beneficial. Proven experience of enhancing process efficiency is also required. The candidate must possess strong relationship-building skills with stakeholders at all levels, effective communication abilities, and the capability to work both independently and as part of a team. Additionally, a keen eye for detail and a high degree of accuracy are essential.

This is a full-time position. The working hours are Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5pm (Hybrid)

As the Credit Controller, you will need to ensure that defined controls and processes are strictly adhered to, and collection activities performed on a timely basis. To perform their duties successfully, it is also their responsibility to build strong relationships with customers, outsourced partners, and business units.

The Credit Controller will be responsible for collecting and processing all revenues due, for retained activities, in line with agreed terms and SLA's, as well as building professional and collaborative relationships with clients and corresponding regularly with clients and other stakeholders as required to ensure timely collection of debts and query resolution.

As the Credit Controller, you will escalate and provide supporting information for any significant disputes or issues and support their resolution, including internal non-compliance.You will have a strong level of Collections / Revenue Cycle knowledge and experience, and best practice principles, as well as demonstrable knowledge of broader OTC activities including billing, collections and cash application, including flexibility to cover for absences or at time of peak demand as necessary.

Good analytical skills, with the ability to review, interrogate and analyse large sets of data are a must for this role.
