Applications are invited for this prestigious post, which offers advanced training and experience in all aspects of upper limb surgery. The post would be most suitable for a trainee with CCT or a year 6 orthopaedic trainee, with FRCS (Orth) or equivalent, Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise and with a special interest in knee surgery. These are 12 month appointments however candidates who are interested in a 6 month post may also be considered. As one of the largest Orthopaedic Departments in the country, the full spectrum of upper limb surgery is performed in Derby.

The Upper Limb Fellow will be directly involved in the day to day care of the Trauma & Orthopaedic patients admitted to their firm. There is a day to day commitment to clinics & operating sessions with the opportunity to experience the full spectrum of upper limb surgery including primary elbow and shoulder replacements along with shoulder, elbow and wrist arthroscopies. During each six month rotation you will work for either Mr Clark and Mr Cresswell (this also includes a day in the Pulvertaft Hand Unit) Mr Espag or Mr Tambe team

Independent elective operating may be possible as the appointee’s experience increases. The timetable may alter depending upon current needs however we will endeavor to utilise the cover sessions for upper limb related Clinics/Theatres and or trauma lists.

The End User Support Senior Engineer is an on site role andwill assist the Team Leader with the development and support of the end user support team, providing desktop support across the trust, and all community sitesin line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and in accordance with appropriate standards.

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint to a Senior Clinical Fellow in ENT Surgery within University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, for 6 months from February to August 2025.

The appointee will be actively involved in the running of the ENT unit including participating in ward rounds, theatre lists, day case lists and outpatient clinics, as well as providing support for the Consultants, SAS Doctors and junior medical team.

We are looking to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Intensive Care Medicine with a specific interest in the use of echocardiography and ultrasound in critically ill patients. It is a 12 month fixed term post with duties at the Royal Derby Hospital.

The job will help fill the knowledge and experience gap that many trainees and clinicians have in using echocardiography and ultrasound on ICU. It is anticipated that fellows who complete a year would be able to apply for FICE accreditation, gain considerable experience in teaching and supervising both TTE and TOE, publish research in this area and have a working knowledge of the use of focused ultrasound in critically ill patients.

The appointee will work on the ICU with a 1:8 on call. This post offers the appointee the opportunity to gain experience in TTE, TOE, lung and focused abdominal ultrasound, No previous experience in these areas is required. Once trained, the appointee will also use the simulator to run teaching sessions and help deliver our accredited echo course. TOE is gradually being introduced into the anaesthetic service and the fellow would be expected to help expand this role.

The ICU work closely with the cardiology department and the appointee will be offered the opportunity to attend and contribute to the monthly joint ECHO meeting and to work with echo technicians in the department. Clinical Measurement at the Royal Derby Hospital is a busy diagnostic department, with several disciplines operating within it including Cardiology, Respiratory and Sleep, Gastric and Neurophysiology. University Hospitals of Derby and Burton comprises of our main sites; the Royal Derby Hospital and Queens Hospital Burton, as well as community hospitals and three CDC hubs also serving our community.

We are looking for a Cardiology trained, Senior Assistant Physiologist (band 4) with experience in the following: Assisting in exercise tolerance testing; including myocardial perfusion testing, head up tilt table testing; including active stand and autonomic function testing, 24/48 hour ambulatory ECG analysis, event recorder analysis as well as routine non-invasive diagnostic procedures including but not limited to ECG, ambulatory ECG and ambulatory BP. Experience in editing MUSE would be advantageous. The post holder is also required to support the pacing team in facilitating pacing transfers from other hospitals.

Applicants should hold the Diploma in Electrocardiography and have a minimum of 18 months experience working as an Assistant Physiologist in Cardiology performing a range of non-invasive diagnostics.

This post will be based at the Royal Derby Hospital however rotation to Queens Hospital Burton, as well as our CDC's will form part of the working week.

Working with adults and paediatrics in a range of in and out patient settings performing non-invasive cardiac diagnostics as well as supporting the Clinical Physiologists makes up the majority of the role.

Analysis is also a key component as well as training and assessing staff from around the Trust in 12 lead ECG recording.

You will be required to help with any administration duties as required within Cardiology services.

This post would be considered as a developmental post and as such, consideration would be given to applicants who do not hold the Diploma in Electrocardiography however, 18 months experience working as an Assistant Physiologist is vital. The successful applicant will join a large and dynamic team of 23 Consultants providing a comprehensive Respiratory Service to Derby, Southern Derbyshire, Staffordshire and surrounding areas.

The Royal Derby Respiratory Unit delivers high-quality sub-specialty services including lung cancer, COPD, asthma, ILD, bronchiectasis, tuberculosis, and sleep/NIV.

This is a replacement post that will support the pleural and lung cancer services. The Clinical Fellow will be responsible, under the direction of the consultants, for delivering inpatient care, day case pleural activity, out-patient clinics and medical student teaching. In addition, they will gain experience in EBUS and thoracoscopy in a centre which performs over 180 of these procedures per year.

On-call commitments includes evening and weekend cover within the respiratory and medical HDU rota.

We have three wards across two sites, with a total of 88 beds for antenatal, postnatal and induction of labour. At Royal Derby Hospital there are:

17 delivery rooms including one pool room and bereavement suite.
Four bedded Midwife led birth centre.

Four bedded Obstetric Enhanced Care area and a two bedded assessment bay

Queens Hospital Burton has seven delivery rooms including one pool room and one bereavement suite.

Samuel Johnson Community Hospital currently does not provide intrapartum care but runs as a community midwifery hub.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical or Teaching Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedics at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

Rotational appointments to commence as soon as possible for 12 months.

The post is based at the prestigious Royal Derby Hospital, incorporated within University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. The Orthopaedic Department at the Royal Derby Hospital has a long history of Orthopaedic innovation and excellence. This thriving department boasts world renowned and leading Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Applications are invited for clinical and teaching fellow positions. All positions offer training and experience in all aspects of orthopaedic surgery.

The teaching fellow post could be undertaken for a period of 6 or 12 months and then rotate into a different orthopaedic speciality

The Trauma and Orthopaedics Unit at Royal Derby comprises 8 purpose-built state of the art laminar flow theatres as well as dedicated outpatient clinic facilities for both Trauma and Elective patients. As one of the largest Orthopaedic Departments in the country, the full spectrum of hip and knee surgery is performed by the Surgeons in Derby. NJR revision data show the department’s arthroplasty results to be second to none in the country.

The hospital has a state of the art postgraduate training library and a variety of teaching and clinical audit sessions occur throughout each month. The Royal Derby Hospital runs regular teaching sessions and is committed to career progression and furthering education.

Teaching registrars work as a team providing small group teaching lectures and ward teaching to medical students on their MDD attachment.

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Research Nurse to join our research delivery team to support the growing portfolio of research studies undertaken by the research team at UHDB. The post will suit a dynamic, enthusiastic and creative individuals looking to further their career in research.

The post holder will be working with a renowned multidisciplinary team in various areas. You will manage your own caseload of patients on clinical trials with the support of the wider research and clinical team.

You will be expected to deputise in the absence of the Senior Research Nurse as required. Previous clinical research experience with drug and commercial trials is desirable, however training is offered.

Preferably educated to degree level or equivalent, you will work within the guidelines and policies for the conduct of clinical trials, ensuring high standards of practice in accordance with the principles of GCP.

The successful applicant should have a flexible approach and the ability to work both as part of the team and independently. In addition, excellent communication, administrative and IT skills and being supportive and open to new initiatives are valued by the team.

The post holder will support trials from set up to close and will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical trials. This will involve the recruitment, education and monitoring of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data.

You will be working closely with principal investigators and members of the multidisciplinary team, and will support patients who choose to participate in clinical trials by providing advice and information and acting as the patients' advocate.

An important aspect of the role is the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research studies. The post holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken within the department safeguards the well-being of the patients and is conducted within ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines for Research.

You will have an excellent range of clinical skills and can demonstrate significant knowledge and some experience of supporting clinical research in a hospital setting.

Proven recent experience of coordinating/supporting complex research studies and using the study intensity tool to manage workload is required for the post.

You will be an effective communicator who can work well both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team, with excellent attention to detail.

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) has one of the largest maternity services in the UK, providing maternity care across Derbyshire and into Staffordshire.

We want to provide woman-centred, family friendly care and offer a range of models of midwifery and obstetric care provision. This includes midwife-led care, continuity of carer models, and specialist care provided by our obstetric teams for women with more complex needs, as well as community midwifery services.

As manager you will provide leadership and management skills to our intrapartum services. You will be required to work clinically to maintain competency and to support professional development within the team. As part of this role you will also be required to support the senior midwife for labour ward and provide support to deputy senior midwives.

This is a full-time position to provide the managerial support and leadership to the service, however there is flexibility in working hours to support your development and your own wellbeing .

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic lead midwife for Intrapartum Care. We are looking for an individual who has experience of managing and leading a team, is committed to continuous development and improvement.

You will work closely with the whole multidisciplinary team including the obstetric labour ward lead consultant, anaesthetic labour ward lead anaesthetist, theatre matron, neonatal lead consultant for neonates, senior midwife for labour ward, intrapartum matron and the senior midwifery team across both sites and support staff in the deliverance of exceptional care together.

• Four bedded Midwife led birth centre.
• Four bedded Obstetric Enhanced Care area and a two bedded assessment bay
Queens Hospital Burton has seven delivery rooms including one pool room and one bereavement suite.
Samuel Johnson Community Hospital is currently does not provide intrapartum care but runs as a community midwifery hub.
