This post is a key role within the organisation to provide operational management and leadership to the Virtual Hospital within West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospital and Southwest Care Health Partnership. The VH manages respiratory, cardiac and frailty, surgical and have recently extended another pathway for General Medicine.

Virtual Hospital sits within the care partnership, this role will work in collaboration between West Herts and Central London Community Hospital Trust. It is an exciting service to be a part of as it has continually grown since its inception in 2021.

Virtual wards provide an admission avoidance and an early supported discharge pathway. It is a key focus of the ICB to have a functioning VH which ensures smooth patient flow in the acute trust, as well as providing good patient experience and quality care in the community.

The post holder must be proactive, innovative, have good communication skills, good knowledge of managing change and have very good organisational skills.

Oversee the day-to-day business management of the Virtual Hospital for all specialities and divisions across the Trust.

Work closely with the Clinical Lead and Delivery Lead for Virtual Hospital to manage the performance and output of the virtual wards.

Work alongside the Clinical Directors and the Deputy Head of Nursing to support the Virtual hospital services and clinical pathways within the Division.

Assist the Divisional Manager in developing the Division’s strategic and operational agenda.

Contribute towards the overall achievement of the Trust’s and national strategy, targets and operational objectives.

Work with the Clinical Leads and Divisional team to align with Trust, HCP, ICB and Divisional strategies.

Work alongside system and community partners to ensure good working relationships and delivery of effective pathways.

Our Neonatal Unit

The Woodland Neonatal Unit is a Local Neonatal Unit (LNU) within the East of England providing care for infants born from 27 weeks gestation. The unit is a 19 bedded unit with two intensive care, five high dependency and 12 special care cots. We also manage a dedicated six bedded transitional care unit within the postnatal ward and work collaboratively with the midwives on the postnatal ward.

The postholder will be working closely with the Neonatal Matron to ensure that the unit maintains the highest standard of care provision and promote best practice within the multidisciplinary team within the neonatal unit.

The postholder will also support the matron and the infant feeding lead to achieve BFI and BLISS accreditation.

We are looking for a highly skilled leader who will drive change, service transformation and innovation, managing and responding to changing local and national priorities.

Improving our Cancer Performance is a key priority and this role is pivotal to supporting the organisation in delivering the national planning guidance and adherence to cancer waiting time standards.

This currently includes; Acute Oncology Service, Non Specific Symptoms Service, Psychology Service

As part of an ICS wide exercise, the Trust is participating in the procurement of an ICS wide Cancer Management System. This role will support the implementation and roll out of this system once this exercise is concluded, and will play a key role in managing the operational element of the roll out. This role will also involve working with the BI team to ensure adherence to external reporting requirements and to develop and embed further reporting tools to aid recovery and improvement.
