Our Imaging Department plays an essential role in the Trust, offering a range of diagnostic tests with modern equipment. We have recently refurbished our fluoroscopy room into an additional digital x-ray room. This high level of investment by the Trust ensures we are able to provide the best imaging facilities for our patients. We have recently commissioned 6 Cios Flow Image Intensifier to be used within out theatres.

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit 1 x 12 Months Fixed Term radiographer, with a passion for imaging, to expand our experienced team. With significant experience in plain film and fluoroscopy is essential and this post will give you the opportunity to build on and extend your clinical expertise in MSK imaging.

The successful applicant be required to work extended weekdays and weekends on a rolling rota as well as on-call duties.

To undertake a range of general radiographic procedures and organise service provision within the main X-Ray Department and Operating Theatres under the supervision of the X-ray Team Lead Radiographer. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical
• Regularly undertake a wide range of radiographic examinations including plain film, fluoroscopy and CT ensuring high standards of technique and patient care.
• Work within and adhere to departmental and Trust policies and procedures and to ensure that these are adhered to by more junior staff.
• Participate in the Imaging On-Call rota, extended working day system and weekend duties.
• Perform intravenous injections of contrast media as directed by the Radiologists and with the appropriate qualification, as required.
• To liaise with other areas of the Trust to ensure the best patient care by having a flexible approach to use of staff and equipment.
• To communicate and liaise with all members Trust staff including the multidisciplinary team and to deliver sensitive information to patients and carers where there may be barriers to communication, ensuring that patients understand the procedure and receive appropriate reassurance.
• To record data concerning the patients’ examination, in line with IRMER 2017 legislation and factors relating to the patients’ clinical condition,
• Maintain a professional attitude for the dignity and well-being of the patient and ensuring confidentiality at all times.
• To organise and prioritise workload as required, in a specialized modality / departmental area considering the patients’ clinical condition and the imaging request, in a safe and efficient manner.
• Maintain the highest professional standards and good public image both verbally and visually.
• Actively assist in the clinical education/training of trainee assistant practitioners, radiographic assistants and radiography students, as required.
• Participate in research, technical developments and introduce new techniques and instruct staff on the same under the direction of the Team Lead Radiographer and with the agreement of the relevant medical staff.
• Assist in the development and production of protocols, procedures and training manuals as directed by the Team Lead Radiographer.
• Provide advice on the appropriateness of Imaging requests in line with departmental protocols. To make the decision to reject requests which do not meet these guidelines.

The individual appointed to the post will have completed orthopaedic or plastic surgical training and have completed or be undertaking a training Fellowship in Hand Surgery.

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital is seeking to recruit two Consultant Lower Limb Arthroplasty Surgeon to increase capacity and improve delivery of high quality surgery to patients referred from General Practitioners, Triage services and other Secondary or Tertiary care providers. The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital has been designated as a Major Revision Centre (MRC) in the reconfiguration of revision arthroplasty services and is therefore looking for two members to join the team. One post will have a specific remit to help build the revision knee service and we would be delighted to consider existing revision knee consultants who wishes to relocate to an MRC or a highly motivated fellowship trained individual who is looking to build a complex revision practice. The second post holder would be experienced in complex hip and knee revision surgery and would complement the experience of the current team delivering primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty. You would join the Arthroplasty group within the Large Joints department. The current team comprises 11 colleagues with 3 having a particular interest in the management of Young Adult Hip conditions.

The individual appointed to the post will have competed orthopaedic training, and have completed or be undertaking a training Fellowship in Lower Limb Arthroplasty surgery. Flexible and less than full-time working can be accommodated.

The job plan is based upon 10 PA’s initially.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate would undertake 2 all day, (2.5 PA) theatre lists per week, with a further 2 out-patient clinics (2 PA). There is a fixed MDT (0.5 PA). The Trust currently offers 1.5 PA for supporting professional activities to cover mandatory training, CPD, preparation for appraisal, attendance at audit etc.

A further 1 SPA is offered in recognition of other SPA activities that support improvement in patient care, service delivery and efficiency, or other activities as specified in the job planning policy. This can be agreed at any time although it is anticipated the candidate would be unlikely to take a lead role within the first 6 months of starting. Alternatively Direct Clinical Care can be increased to 8.5 PA’s with 1.5 PA’s for core SPA. There is significant scope for flexibility within the Job-planning process. Some flexibility on operating theatres and/or days would be expected but most clinics will be on a fixed day.

MAINDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide a comprehensive assistant secretarial service to clinicians and clinical teams in conjunction with the Senior Team Secretaries.

4. Receive phone calls from patients, relatives and GP’s. Ensure they are dealt with in a timely manner or passed to the appropriate Secretary as required, maintaining the highest possible customer care at all times.
5. Communicate with other sections within patient access and other departments as required.
6. Type clinics and reports into PAS/CRIS system as requested by the Personal Medical Secretaries.
7. Liaise with hospitals and GP surgeries for information.
8. Photocopying and faxing documents as required
9. To open and distribute post, prioritising any urgent post and ensuring relevant documentation is attached. In addition to acting promptly and appropriately to all e-mail correspondence.
10. Track case notes in and out of departments.
11. Ensure loose filing is amalgamated with case notes within the department or health records.
12. Liaise with appropriate staff in making routine appointments or cancellations as directed by the Personal Medical Secretaries.
13. Supports Team Leader to induct and support junior members of the team
